when I was in my teens, I aspired to be a marine biologist. i had a good microscope at the time but i didn't make the connection between the two!!! i used to scuba dive and in central Fl. I have been on reefs where i came within 10 ft. of a barracuda!! it just watched me as i watched it. i made sure that i didn't have on any jewelry like bracelets, necklaces or any shiny things that may have caused it to assume i was a fish! used to watch J. Cousteau (sic) all the time. recently, i was a fan of the late Steve Irwin. i used to look at plankton under my microscope but didn't realize that the lowest part of the food chain sustained all of us. I think marine microbiology is a vital occupation and i should have went in that direction going into college. hindsight is allways 20/20 as they say. good question that brought back good memories so thanks. BTW you know that SCUBA is an acronym for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus.
