i feel they should have to pay extra. have you ever sat next to a huge person who was lapping over onto your seat for 11 hours? Let me tell you its very uncomfortable, you cant get past, cant put your arm on the seat rest and sometimes even have trouble with your tray. for what the airline charges per seat I would like to be as comfortable as humanely possible in the tiny space thats allocated to me. If you are enormous then pay for 2 seats so the other passengers dont suffer on account of your weight. Might be a bit rude of me but its true, try it sometime, you will change your mind quickly and make them pay extra too

Yes. It's not discrimination, it's just business. Airplane tickets are sold per seat, not per person. The extra seat that an obese person takes is one less seat that the airline can sell. Even if the flight is not full, there are extra costs involved. It takes more energy & fuel to fly a heavier person.

Yes
It may be harsh but the airline can't sell the seat someone else is using, not only is there the loss of seat but the extra fuel cost and meals/drinks costs.
If one person requires two seats they must pay for them, although the second one may be at a discount at the airlines discretion.

I think that's wrong. Airlines should just stop making such small-a** seats and start caring for their customers' comfort. The reason they make us fit into a can of sardines is because they know we have no ther option...we have to fly, so they can treat us the way they please. Bastards...in order to be comfortable we have to pay double price for a normal sized seat in business class. Pisses me off...

while you're compelled to pay two times the well-known value, then the airline could be required to supply you a roomier seat. i understand SW would not have a 1st classification area or corporation seats yet clientele mutually with your self could call for adjustments or take their corporation someplace else. this is blatant discrimination imho.

In my opinion, yes. Not to be mean or anything, but its just fair. They're taking up 2 seats on the plane, so they should be charged twice.

I thought they were charged for more than one seat if they needed it. If I have to pay $50-100 each way for my dog to fly under my seat, then they sure as hell better be paying for more than one seat!

Yes they are taking up more than one seat. Its only fair. Its like me bringing a big duffel bag onto the flight, and taking the seat next to me...... i would have to pay for it.... figuratively speaking.
