Got pain from under right ear down my neck, feels like a nerve or something. The pain begins under my earlobe and feels like something is pinching a nerve or something similar. It radiates down to where the spine connects to my skull and down towards the right shoulder. It's been going on for 3 days now and I am getting a bit concerned, although it's weekend now and I will not be able to go to a doctor. Has anyone had something similar? It almost feels like a cross between a pinched nerve and a severe headache at the bottom right of the back of my skull.

When a muscle goes into contracture, it is attached to a bone.. that bone will move according to the amount of tension applied to it.. When the vertebrae are involved, you also have to include nerve impingement. Which sets up an inflammatory process of the nerve and the surrounding tissues. If you press at the base of the skull you may find it creates or increases the pain factor.

This is a routine condition presenting to a doctor of Chiropractic..Would recommend you consider seeing one and soon.

The lump in your neck is a tight neck muscle and is the cause of your pains. Your neck muscles go to the top of your head passing just inside of the ears. When the muscles are tight they can press into the nerves to your ears to cause pains. As the lump is the cause of the tightness, touching it or moving it is changing the pressure on the nerves to your ears for the changes you feel in it. The neck muscles are tight to be the cause of the pain there. When neck muscles are tight they can press into the throat with enough pressure to trap your tongue muscle there to make it hard and painful to swallow, your sore throat, so this is some continuation of that problem. To get rid of the pains you have to free up your neck muscles to release the tight muscles causing the pains and here's how to free them up: Neck: Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle, behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about two minutes, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck extended (lowered) for another 30 seconds. For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

Definitely recommend you find yourself an osteopath asap. I have had similar problems, it's to do with alignment of your spine/neck and the trapped nerve thing. Your doctor will probably give you anti inflammatories and/or painkillers but they will not resolve the cause of the problem in the way an osteopath will. Good luck!

There is a large muscle that runs in that path. You may have injured it. Try cold packs to take down inflammation. Heat only increases inflammation causing more pain. If it doesn't get better soon go to the Dr. Hope you feel better

Ask your doctor about an exercise routine. Regular exercise, such as walking three times a week, may reduce neuropathy pain, improve your muscle strength and help control blood sugar levels. Gentle routines such as yoga and tai chi might also help.

Sounds like you need a new pillow. Try going to a massage therapist.
