I moved here to America when I was five, and even then I spoke Russian fluently. But I forgot it all as the years have gone by. Now, I'm 16 and my family is buying Russian channels (including the news, children shows, etc.) Considering that TV practically owns my entire life, will I relearn Russian?

You will relearn Russian. I too once lost my mother tongue, but it was always there to be retrieved. However, you had only got so far with your Russian -- you had the vocabulary of a boy of five. So you will have to work hard at vocabulary and grammar and new concepts and there will always be areas where you are less comfortable -- intellectual argument, for example. Perhaps you will initially learn more from the children's shows, taking it from there and gradually building up. Make sure you learn to read Russian! Presumably you hadn't got that far at the age of five! Good luck in your endeavours!

You will have to put "effort" into learning Russian. Watching TV alone would not be enough - you would need to converse with your parents in Russian, etc
