Let me say that there has been a lot of talking about immigration, and I wanted to ask you this which my Government college professor asked me:
In our everyday life would you seriously check the legal status of everyone that has a different accent from yours?
If you have a Mexican and a Russian mowing your lawn who would you ask for proof of their citizenship, the Mexican just because of his race, or the Russian who although white can still be illegal?
If you are anti-immigration are you ready to build houses, work on the fields, mow lawns, build pools, and clean your neighboor's house? Or would you rather work on the field you are preparing for in college?
In our competitively growing economy you have to think for your benefit and that of your loved ones so will you pay 5,000 thousand dollars to Mexican immigrant to build your pool? Or will you pay 15,000 thousand dollars to an American citizen who had the possibility to go to college for free yet he chose the easy way out.

Several people told me they used to do
the "jobs Americans won't do"
until local employers figured out
that they could get ILLEGAL Aliens to do the work
for less than half the same amount.

Ask Your Professor If He Thinks It's Fair To US Citizens
For ILLEGAL ALIENS To Continue
To FALSELY DEPRESS WAGES
ie : Building A Pool For 5000 Dollars
When The Job Is Actually Worthy Of The 15,000 Dollars
An American Citizen SHOULD Get In The US Economy

The Cost Of Living In This Nation Has TRIPLED
In The Past 10 Years
Yet Our Living Wage Has Been Cut In Half

As an example,
(Your "Mexican and a Russian mowing" Example)
a young landscaper
who used to make $15 an hour 10 YEARS AGO,
can't get a similar job now for more than $8 an hour.
Same heat.
Same difficult working conditions.
But with the Depressed Wage,
AMERICANS – who live in a country where the cost of living
is miles above that of Mexico's –
can't afford to take such jobs.
It's not that he and other Americans
don't want to do landscaping anymore;
it's just that in heavily trafficked ILLEGAL ALIEN environments,
IT DOESNT PAY WELL ENOUGH ANYMORE.

Younger U.S.-born high school graduates
are squeezed at both ends.
Jobs that would have gone to them in the past
are now being grabbed by college graduates.

The lowest-wage jobs are unappealing,
and employers will not raise wages
as long as ILLEGAL ALIENS will take them.

If this is what the open borders crowd means
by ILLEGAL ALIENS doing jobs Americans don't want,
they're right.
American workers want jobs
that can Earn them a DECENT LIVING in this country.

Minimum wage is a fortune south of the border,
but it doesn't go far here.

Ask Your Professor If He Will Continue To Cut The Throats
Of Americas Middle Class
One Blue Collar At A Time
By Continuing To Pay The Mexican Or Russian
8 Dollars An Hour To Mow His Grass

Also Ask Him How He Would Feel
If His 100,000 Dollar Per Year Job
Suddenly Was Filled By A Professor From Another Nation
For Only 50,000 Per Year UNDER THE TABLE
(This ^ Is An Example,
I DO NOT KNOW His Salary
But I Think You Get The Point)

"American citizen who had the possibility to go to college for free yet he chose the easy way out."
First of all that's untrue,no one goes to college in the USA for free.Even if you get a scholarship it still costs you money. The cost of higher education has risen to the point its almost unaffordable to the average person.

As for your pool scenario ,if you are attending college most likely you ARE NOT building a pool. You cant afford to do that.
As for myself ,I own a business and I don't hire anyone with out verifying their status .I first cant afford to because its illegal ,and second because I simply will not go against my convictions.
My landscape company is owned by an Asian man that employs black and white workmen,my house keeper is German and has been a citizen for 50 years.
I have 30 employees and they are all colors and from all heritage's but they are all legal.
I live in AZ where illegals are plentiful,it is my choice not to hire any company that employed them.My home was not built by illegals nor was anything else on my property.
I would much rather pay more money for work that is guaranteed by a company I can find a year after they have finished the job.Fly by night companies are not my choice.I like quality backed up by a business that I can rely on to be there after the contract is over.
Cheap labor is not what I'm looking for.Its bad for the consumer, and its bad for the USA.Buy American, employ Americans.......

I say pay what the market can bare. That is free enterprise. You professor is a perfect example of a over paid blow hard. This country is being overran by illegal aliens. I don't care what race they are. They should be here legally or don't be here at all. For that worn out phrase of they will do the work that Americans won't do, I say try us out. Yes we demand higher wages because we are Americans. Our standard of living demands that of us. Employers that hire illegals just be jailed and fined as high as we can possibly fine them. Until we stop this huge influx of people being here illegally, the stress on the average American will only increase as well as the amount that we are taxed. Your professors other statement about going to college free, what fantasy island is he from. Because of his overpaid salary the cost of going to college is anything but free.

With so many illegals in this country, I think there will be a time in the near future that we DO have to check the status of ALL immigrants. It is not being racist, nor is it discriminating; it is taking action against illegal immigrants in the US of A!! If immigrants are legal US citizens and have proof, then what is the problem of having their IDs checked?? I see immigrants having problems if they are illegal, my response to that is - BECOME A US CITIZEN!!

Americans have been building houses, mowing laws, working in fields, cleaning ,etc for ages so that is not a problem for us!!

The Mexican who's being paid far less to build my pool is being ripped off by the company that builds the pools. College isn't for everyone so if an American chooses to install pools for a living, he won't get the job over the Mexican who will work for peanuts and not complain because he doesn't want to be deported. Businesses and the greedy owners are the driving force behind this immigration mess. Screw the Americans out of what they deserve so the rich can get richer.

The BBB has nothing to do with things like that - they are for comumer complaints. There are very few if any actually illegal interview questions, so it's possible you just thought it was illegal and that's why the state atty gen told you they couldn't help you. What was the question?

My dear, the point is not the %,000 or the 15,000. We have to look at the whole picture. What the Government want you to think that is exactly what you are doing. Behind of that there is lets say game. This is more complicated them you think. Before you judge the illiegals, you must know that USA has the nose in most of the countries specially poor contry. There is a lot of garbage that you don't know. So, I would say whatever quality job I get I will pay for it. as long as it is according to my budget. I am not here to check anyone ID or SS.

I am with you and most of this fear of immigrants (legal or illegal) is due to ignorance of the law and direct dealings with them. Racist has much to do with it because as soon as you mention an illegal immigrant they are classified as Mexican. I have said it before, these immigrants have made this country strong and a better place to live. Farms in the U.S. have almost gone due to the children of farmers refuse to keep up the hard work that their parents put into it. Now, if they had a few immigrants, I bet that they would still be in business.

if i was to ask to see proof. i would also ask the Russian.
don't sell your self short. even if they are illegal they to should be payed 15,000 thousand dollars for the pool. it's not right to take advantage of people. this is one of the reasons the immigrants going into any country should be legal.
