Millions of people live and visit NYC alone on a daily basis. It can be a safe, fun city if you're smart about planning your trip and activities. Make sure you read and understand the subway system before trying to go anywhere. Be smart about where you decide to walk after dark. Let someone know your iterinerary before setting off. I've put a couple of sites that talk about safety while in NYC but there are thousands on the internet.

Don't let anyone scare you away from going because it's a beautiful city to see in the winter and a sight that can't be missed. Have a great time!

it is safe to be alone in other country if you will trust yourself but if you do not have any trust on yourself, then of course, it will not be a very good vacation.
