It could work both ways. Like why doesn't Manny Pacquiao decide to add some pounds (he's in lesser weight division than Oscar) and meet De La Hoya half way and challenge him if his boxing record says he can fight at Oscar's level? There's no point for Oscar to be an equal opportunity boxer in terms of ethnicity if the talent level does not warrant a title bout. He should not risk injury if nothing to gained except proving he's an equal opportunity fighter in accepting challenges from other ethnicities. Oscar is a legend and needs to allocate his resources (his body!) to fighting only the best competition. Competition and race are not equal factors for endangering a person in a dangerous sport. Like if he sustains an injury fighting the #15 contender who happens a to be a fighter of an ethnicity he's yet to face, how does that help him if he's injured and has to fight Shane Mosely six months later (just an extreme example). It's just not a good business decision. The risk is far greater than the moral gain of beating the best in the world when parts of the world don't have the world's greatest fighters. Perhaps there are great fighters all over the world, but maybe they are not boxing.

Such questions or comments are the ones that make Manny Pacquaio look bad ...A lot of people like Manny Cuz he is exciting to watch..It sounds that you are implenting that Manny can beat Oscar De La Hoya. This fight will never happen and Manny will not beat Oscar De La Hoya..

I am pilipino but people like you should not think one dimensional compare to other racist on any subject.

It just so happen that there were no Filipinos to bank on that time. There were also few capable at his weight class. Filipinos are naturally small. It is very rare to find a Filipino contender above lightweight.

Oscar De La Hoboy can box anyone he wants in my opinion. I wouldn't mind a few rounds with him myself.
Is that nice enough?
As for Phillipino boxers he could have fought, were there really any that would have furthered his career? (with a belt he could win, in the proper weight class, etc)
