Normally getting your passport requires up to six weeks. Expedited service gets your new passport in 2 weeks or less. In extreme emergencies passports can be issued a select passport offices 'instantly', but to do so requires actual eveidence of such a crisis. Having an international flight booked in two weeks does not qualify!
This assumes you are talking about getting a US passport. All bets are off for other nationalities. The procedures and times are bound to be different.

i could say bypass the expedited path. there have been memories everywhere in the information some weeks in the past on the subject of the backlog of having passports. Spend the extra money to be certain which you do can take the holiday! We have been given passports final year and that i think of it took 6 to eight weeks.

There's the so-called express lane where you will make additional payment in order for your passport to be processed within 5 days.

In America, six weeks for regular, non-expedited service. If you go to the major offices you can get them on the same day, but you will need an appointment and have your photos and certified birth certificate. Also fill the form out online and print it, but do not sign it.

How fast do you need it?
I've had friends drop off their apps in the morning, and get their passports later in the afternoon. Obviously, that cost a bit.
