Ok last night I came here as I have only just learned that some people refuse to accept evolution in favour of the creation story, I didnt believe that at first but I was told by a lot of people its true. I still cant wrap my head around that one but never mind. One of the answers I got said some Christians also believe the earth is 6000 years old, that one cant possibly be true can it? I mean there is proof of animals walking the earth milliions of years ago, rocks that are millions of years old, rock layers etc etc etc.... and even ancient civilizations that go back further than 6000 years.
Was he joking or is that true as well? If it is true what do those people think of dinosaurs and carbon dating etc?

Skunked, its funny you should say that, I had images of people coming back and telling there are still people that believe the world is flat. LOL. I hope there isnt.... but after the last couple of days I dont think it'd shock me. Wow, I was taught about religion at school and this NEVER came up!

Thanks for all the answers, I appreciate it

if God b4 me..... Um, I have faith that science is, well... science. But I'm not sure what you mean by maybe the earth was rebuilt, when how do people decended from ancient civilization survive to carry on the human race as we see it today?
I have no issue with people believing in a creator, like I said I have never encountered people who believe in these two thing (the earth being really young and the creation story being true) so forgive my ignorance.

Unfortunately.... it's true. Some Christians REALLY believe the Earth is only 6000 years old.

Yeah, it's true. Some people really do think the world is that old. I know, it scares the hell out of me too.

As for all the evidence... well, they usually do one of three things:
1) They claim that the evidence was made up or in some way illegitimate.
2) They claim that Satan put all the so-called "evidence" there to trick people into not believing in the Bible (yes, some people have actually said that before).
3) They just ignore it. Most of them tend to use this approach. I guess it's just easier. :-P

the world is somewhere around 6,000 years old, it's true. here is some proof...

-the earth is slowing down a little every year, so if the earth is millions of years old it would have been spinning very fast at one time wich would be a serious problem.

-the sun is shrinking 5 ft. a day or something like that so if the earth is millions of years old, it wouldn't exist becasue the sun at one point would be too close to the earth that it would burn up.

-the thing about each rock layer being millions of years is also false because sientists discovered trees standing in the upright positions going through multiple rock layers

these are only a few of the scientifically proven facts that the earth is 6,000 years old. it u want more info. u can e-mail me at sr_muzic_92@yahoo.com.

Claire, Yes we believe in a creator! Yes we believe the bible. Can we explain some things that science has to say....maybe yes ,maybe no....Have you ever considered that the earth may have been rebuilt? It says that God hovered over the deep....it was without form...I cannot say how God did it just that I CHOOSE to believe HE did it.. It doesn't matter to me how he did it. I go on Faith...yes.... faith..have you ever tried it?

First of all, science has accomplished some amaizing things. But they also , have proven themselves wrong At times. Try using the law of probability. Example- Theres no way in hell somone can examine a bone or rock, and tell if its 65000000 years old or 6000. I think I have time to give you one of the subtle signs that people were created through -out the world. Its in their speech. Not accent. example. A certain natl pron the word work as vork. Another natl. pron. the word ask as axe. Im running out of time Take care.

Dr. Kent Hovind has dedicated his life to showing people the errors that these fallible scientist have made in the discoveries that "prove" the earth is billions of years old. He puts it together better than anyone who defends the faith scientifically. Dinosaurs is covered in video 3
Carbon Dating is covered in Audio 7 or you can find this video on www.youtube.com

Evolution is a theory. So,wait when its proved and recorded as a fact,i will believe in it.And i can say that will never be,because we have recorded facts,in the bible.

How about the archeological findings about all those bible stories.I dont need thos findings to believe anywa, because i have faith. And thats what Christianity is based on.

What you were told is true, some of the less intelligent actually belive that the earth is 6000 years old. They deny overwhelming evidence to maintain their belief.

Remember that old Columbus story about how people actually believed the world to be flat? That's what it reminds me of.
