I got out of an abusive relationship 2 years ago, and the guy is still stalking me. I have a restraining order. I am very nervous about pursuing a relationship with a new guy. I met a cop, we like each other. Is it a bad idea to date him?

you should date him, but make him aware of your problem so that he knows. Good Luck

It's very common for women to go from one abusive relationship to another. I'm sure you've heard this before.

This depends on the cop. Some cops really want to help people but many get into police work to be in control. You might want to check around a find out what kinda cop this guy is.

Congratulations that you've now got someone to share your woes. Go ahead, date the cop. As for your ex stalking you, perhaps this cop friend could offer you valuable advice on your next steps. Life needs to go on my dear lady. You need to find your own happiness thus proceed and pursue that relationship. Best wishes.

Hun why on earth would you think that it is a bad idea to date him?

All that matters is that you like him. And not only that but you feel he can protect you [which is probably something you need right now]. I say go for it!

Good luck.

Not to be purposively stereotypical, but relationships with people in those kinds of occupations have higher rates of abuse/divorce. Not that it happens everytime, but maybe you should try it out and get to know the guy's tendencies.

If you like him and he likes you it won't be a bad idea. But keep in mind that cops have nasty shifts to work and if you are ready for these shifts and they don't matter for you, then you should date him why not.

Is he a nice guy? Does he want to date you? Does he know that you have a big problem? Does he still want to date you? Is he a nice guy? Unless you have a reason not to date him, then you should date him.

As long as you aren't dating him because he's a cop and you think he's going to protect you, I'd say go for it.

i don't see a problem with that, as long as you feel ready for another relationship...by the way, is it a coincidence that the man is a cop???? anyways have fun gal, you deserve a break.
