So say some person doesn't like you now, but something happens to them or you do something. Can they start to like you say 5 months later or will they not like you forever?

Yes they can change but it depends on many things, such as how far they don't like you and what is the thing that you will do for them to make them change their mind. If someone doesn't like you further down, I don't think that he/she will change his/her opinion about you my friend. So in my opinion don't waste more time on thinking how to make someone like you. Just be yourself, try to be honest and sincere and I think that doing those things, everybody will like you.

opinions can change, though in my opinion, it is not very likely. we usually tend to characterize persons in the first few seconds/minutes... this judgement can be revised, but this will take some time. 5 months sounds reasonable enough, so yes, they can start to like you...
