I am 25, and I have two daughters who I just adore. I had my first at 20, and my second at 23..for those ignorants, yes, same daddy, and still together..but, after having my first child, it seems as though my memory isn't as sharp as it once was. I used to remember everything, now, I can hardly remember yesterday! I also started getting gray hair with my first pregnancy..is any of this common, or could there be an alternative reason for this??

Please, only serious answers, I'm much too mature for those who want to answer with juvenile responses.

from one comment...Memory loss can be associated with drug use and/or alcohol abuse and/or a head injury. Also, you may want to look into your family's history regaring alzheimers/mental illness and on occasion, the brain will block out painful memories during a traumatic period in one's life....<----I don't use drugs/alcohol..no family history of alzheimers or mental illness, or have had any traumatic periods in my life....I appreciate the comment though

Well, I am 34 and I have three children (13,8, and 5) and my memory has steadily gotten worse over the years. I used to be good with names and now I have to ask people to repeat their names after just meeting them. I do know that many of my friends have gone gray after having children and especially during pregnancy. I would advise keeping the mind active by reading as much as possible and keeping a calendar. I find them helpful!

Memory loss can be associated with drug use and/or alcohol abuse and/or a head injury. Also, you may want to look into your family's history regaring alzheimers/mental illness and on occasion, the brain will block out painful memories during a traumatic period in one's life. There are vitamins and foods you can eat to help memory and also, exercises to help keep your memory sharp. Too much stress in your daily life can cause memory loss also. Good luck. See a doctor.

I think it is very common. I think all women have different reactions in their bodies though. I mean...you just had a baby. It takes a lot of your nutrients and energy to create a person. It's amazing, but it is common for it to have effects. I had a daughter about 3 months ago, and my hair has fallen out like crazy. It has just started to slow down. Luckily for me, before I was pregnant I had extremely long and very thick hair that it isnt leaving me bald. But I guarantee you if my moms hair fell out like mine did...she would pretty dang bald. I cant help you with the memory thing though...I have always forgotten everything.

This is very common-you are just too busy! To help out the gray hair thing, watch your diet-increase fish, veggies and meat. Best of all, take a time-released B50 capsule daily-that will help hair & memory. You will have more time to think AFTER they are both in school!

Thank goodness I'm not crazy! I was recently visiting with a longtime pal, and he remembers things from when we were teens so clearly... and it's just so fuzzy to me. I also have difficulty keeping things as clearly as I used to be able to. I had my first at 19, and I have three children.

I don't think you're alone, surely there's a chemical connection there.
