It is quite obvious that most of the people that replied to this really don't know what Messianic Judiasm is. A person who practices Judiasm is someone who does not believe that Christ is the Messiah. Jewish people recognize that Christ existed but like I said don't believe that he is the Messiah/Savior. They are in fact still waiting for their Messiah. On the other hand, A Messianc Jew is someone who practices all the same rituals of the Jewish faith BUT they ALSO believe that Christ IS the Messiah. Bottom line, is that they are Christians who still practice the rituals(laws) of the old testament but they believe that Christ is in fact their messiah. Now, having said that, ANYONE can be a Messianic Jew as long as you have both of these elements. You do NOT have to have been born a Jew. The openly embrace anyone who has come to this realization. It requires a great deal of study of the old testament (which they do so lovingly) and they embrace the traditions of Hanukkah. Christmas is rejected not because they don't believe that Jesus (Jeshua - Hebrew name for Jesus) was the messiah, (because they DO), but because Christmas is really a pagan holiday. It's a made - up holiday, who's origins really have nothing to do with Christ at all, and because they believe it's totally against God to do anything outside of the bible. Christmas as we know it is not even mentioned in the bible. Christmas trees, ornaments and all the fluff and stuff of Christmas they feel is a slap in Christ's face. They believe that most people who "practice" Christmas don't even THINK about Christ and do it only for the exchange of gifts. And most of us reading this, know that to be exactly the case. In fact, it's highly doubtful that Christ was even born in December. Many scholars believe that His birthdate was actually around early September. In any case, the Messianic faith is a BEAUTIFUL blending of old Jewish traditions/laws from the old testament AND that Jesus (Jeshua) is LORD/SAVIOUR and Messiah. I know because my brother and his family have practiced this faith for many years. I am a born again Christian myself and my brother has greatly taught me a lot about the old testatment and the festivals. It was on his heart to do so as well. He came to this realization while as a Christian he began studying the old testament at great length and in particular the mosaic laws. Christian faiths alone don't practice all the festivals because they have interpreted the bible to read that once Christ was given it negated the need to live by the Mosaic law from the old testament. Messianic jews interpret the bible differently in that the Messiah's coming did NOT mean that you didn't need to still continue the laws and practices from the old testament. If it's in your heart to follow these laws/practices, then do so. G-d in fact may be tugging at your heart to do so. My brother found great joy in this, lived it every day of his converted life and praised the saving grace of Jesus (Jeshua) to anyone that would listen. Continue to study on your own and the Lord will lead you to exactly where He wants you to go.

You may find the occasional Messianic Jewish group that's clannish and uninterested in Gentile converts, but most of the groups I've had contact with enthusiastically welcomed Gentiles. You'll find a good foundation in the Old Testament feasts and practices that prepared the way for the Messiah.
It's not really a 'conversion' as such, since you're converting from 'Christian' to 'Christian.' But the cultural difference between 'fightin' Fundy' and 'Messianic Jew' is night and day.

I once wanted to convert to Messianic Judaism, and was told by some Messianic Jews that I could not be a Messianic Jew, but that I could be a "Messianic Gentile."
I know some Christians who associate very closely with the Messianic Jewish movement. They go to Messianic Jewish congregations, and celebrate the Jewish holidays, and don't celebrate Christmas (they think it's pagan). They are Gentiles, but they are very much involved in Messianic Judaism. They are totally accepted.

If you truly have recieved Jesus as your Savior, I can't imagine ever wanting give that up.
I'm sorry I don't know alot about Messianic Judaism but I do know about the Judaism as God commanded it in the Old Testament, and all the feasts all the rituals all the sacrifices speak of Jesus and his purposes on the the earth. It may be that Jesus is trying to draw you into a closer relationship with himself.
If you want to celebrate the feasts that God commanded in the Old Testament, Go for it if all christians did that we would probably be better christians and have a closer walk with God. but dont do it because you think you have to, do it because you love God.

Hashim or The name is Yahweh, search for his house not the house of gods. In scripture it is called Bayit Yahweh and there you are to keep the feasts 3 times a year, the messiah never ever said to stop keeping the laws that protect you, if one would keep these laws then he would find what a true blessing they are. The church isnt going to be very popular if they start telling people that they have to keep the laws.one word pharisees'

First of all judaism is not a race it is a practice of faith. To believe that someone is born into a specific faith is totally incorrect. The person must electively choose the path of their faith. I studied a little bit about judaism in my quest for a spiritual home. I read the Old Testament indepthly and strongly connected with it. I have always believed that Jasus (peace be upon him) was born as a holy prophet to teach the word of God and to enforce the laws of God. But I do not believe that Jesus is the same as God because he was a man and capable of imperfection. I do not believe that he died on the cross to save us from sinning. We do sin and we will always sin. But he lived, taught, and died with the purpose to improve the faith of man. The rest is really up to you. You may not agree with my views and that is your decision. God reveals the truth to those who open their hearts and eyes, and serve Him alone.

lol, In fairness to the various christians in this website, you have generalized your question too plenty, additionally they have, purely approximately each and every sect of their faith have condemed the jews for jesus team. The Messianics Jews are our issue alongside with the Chabad Messianics no longer theirs. additionally certainty is Messianic Jews don't have interaction in changing fellow Jews to any extent further than the Chabad Messianics do. I surely have a better issue with Reform Jews tagging with pagans and how they arrive to a style who's Jewish, extra then I do those 2 Messianic communities interior Judaism. Orthodox Jewish sister Edit to Kate: exciting reaction long, yet exciting. You improve valued factors around the board. something we ought to consistently all evaluate, nicely accomplished sister!!!

Hey David.
While I would encourage you to search this out yourself and pray that God speak to you as to what he wants you to do, let me give you some food for thought.
Read Galatians 3 and 4
Basically Paul is discouraging the believers in Galatia from adopting the Law of the OT. Not because it's bad, but rather because it is unnecessary. While I find value in my awareness of OT law, I do not feel the need to observe any of the rituals of it. Again, not because it's bad. As a Christian or Messianic Jew we should not feel compelled to obey the Law. If we choose to observe some of the rituals because we want to it's fine, but we should not feel compelled to do so in order to be "right" with God.
Just food for thought.
Godspeed!

I came to the exact same point.!!! i would've even gotten myself pricked as if i had become circumcised again. but one rabbi declared that I was too much of believer in the saviour already having come. Afterwards, though i was feeling personally insulted, I recognized I could NEVER Deny my belief that Jesus is the ONLY saviour. to become a messianic Jew you must come to reject that belief altogether. and go back to waiting on the lord to come and save Israel
