HAHAHA I'm too lazy to care about religion? Too lazy? Do you know how much time and effort I've put forth trying to understand whether or not there really is a God?
I was agnostic when I came to R&S and I'm now a full-blown Atheist. All of the hypocrites and contradictions have shown me the truth. That God is not real.
I've never heard an Atheist called brainwashed before... I think you have that backwards. The Christians are the ones who have been brainwashed... since birth.

I think there are as many "lazy brains" on both sides of the issue. So, yes I agree with you, but I don't think all atheists are stellar thinkers either. Many ARE just brainwashed. Many Christians are also just brainwashed. I have seen a lot of people in and out of church that live unexamined lives. What a pity. The journey is the thing. Many Christians and atheists just jump right to the payoff without ever experiencing the joy of the journey. To truly be a Christian one must have a relationship with Christ. A relationship is a journey, not just a decision to believe whatever the religion of your choice decides to tell you. Too many Christians are riding along asleep.

I know they have tongues and fingers, but brains...
Well.
Anyone with half of one looks at a snow flake sees the beauty of creation. All they see is some stark random lattice formation.
Half empty instead of half full.
Why does man strive to paint a picture so real it seems real.
Ever go to an Art Museum and find that one picture and you just sit there for an hour or more looking only at the eyes and saying, how did this guy make it look like that!
That's creation.
Atheists deny creation.
It's about putting tubes to paint and brushes into a box and giving it to moneys to shake for a billion years and out comes a Gogan or Van Gogh.
It takes no brains at all to see the universe as serendipity.
That's what we call a no brainer.
What probably scares them is that they don't want to conceive of something or someone who is that much of an artisan that they can create the whole package.
The truth of the matter is, those people exist and Jesus was one of them.
He could fashion a table that would endure for decades out of raw tree parts, using no nails and it would hold together.
Almost no one has those skills in this modern world of Ikea where you put your dresser together like it was a bicycle.
I've watched the nay sayers all my life. I watched them laugh at me, struggling, working at my crafts. Then when I got published they didn't laugh so much anymore. Then when my pictures made into publications there was less laughter. When I put things on TV there was amazement. When I put things on radio some were astonished.
I worked with this very talented 14 year old girl who wrote her own material, sang excellently with good control and vibratto, she co-produced her own songs with a 17 year old, she oversaw the photo sessions, did the photo editing and retouching (I had to ask her how she did some of those tricks and I been doing it for years), worked with me on the videos. We had thousands of people coming to her sites, got on TV in several states.
Her friends and family got to her (and I forewarned her it would happen). They called it Fulton's Folly. Little by little they wore her down and she pulled the plug on the whole thing just as we were rolling and became a Dunkin Donuts girl so she could be just like her talentless friends.
Her choice. But if it weren't for the nay sayers destroying her dream, because she had a dream and they just had day dreams.
She could turn day dreams into tangible reality. In the business we call that a producer.
That's the artisan difference. Turning a block of marble into something. What did Michaelangelo say, you simply get rid of the piceses that aren't supposed to be there.
Artisans frighten the common man.
The concept that the Universe has an Architect is very frightening because it makes everyone look insignificant.
No one likes to stay behind the counter at Dunkin Donuts while your friend from school tours the world and goes on MTV.
So, you your best to destroy the dreams.
Saying that snowflake wasn't created but was formed randomly due to the laws of physics (where did they come from anyway, they always here, had to be to make things randomly, so something is eternal) makes it a lot less threatening.
Blaming wars on religion instead of man is less threatening, because you are a man, hence a potential warrior.
The really scary part is these "realists" who see the universe as a big cosmic accident (it has to be, otherwise it would be done with willful intent) and they Gods they worship (technology, science and all that other reality stuff) are trying to create life.
The intellegent design of life is a reality and it goes on in laboratories. Man, who professes to have no God, is trying to become a God by creating that which is from something which isn't.
What will Man-God do, should their creation become imperfect.
I guess we'll find out in another couple of centuries when it happens and it will. Man wants to be God so bad it hurts. Man who denies God wants to BE God, because it's better than ringing up donuts...

I am an atheist. I don't understand how atheists are considered the ones to be brainwashed. It seems that those who are controlled by religion would be more likely to be considered as brainwashed. I believe that those with faith in a higher power and those with none could learn a lot from each other. What their logic is in believing and not believing, their sets of values, etc.

I agree with you. I'm not a religious person, and a lot of the time I'm ridiculed because of my beliefs. I don't hate Christians or religious people. Live and let live. I'm not 100% atheist either. I believe god created this world using evolution. I'm not too lazy for religion though. I have researched about the bible and attended church. I have my own beliefs.

i get annoyed at religious people who claim to have the "truth" even though their singular beliefs are so contrary to scriptures. The Jews Lost the truth a long time ago
The muslims dont have prophets anymore so they lost their connection to God for someone to speak to them.
Catholics believe In an infalible POPE but popes have been excommunicated
protestants say they Know God and have the truth but they get "all" truth for a book that is limited in its words and doctrines which contain the words of the devil and False teachers as well.
Mormons do the same thing like the Jehova witnesses and the Jews by spreading the doctrine of "the chosen ones" or the sons of righteousness. yet if in all these things a TRUE Angel were to walk among them, I sware to God Most of them would cry Crucify Him, all over again.

Other people up there have already answered this question far better than I could. But I'd just like to add: I find it really funny how so many Christians always attempt to explain why atheists are atheists by saying "They've been fooled by Satan". No wonder Christians and atheists have such a hard time getting along.

Im not an athiest, but I confess to being among the ones here saying "brainwashed".. I say it tongue in cheek though... because they often say Christians (or religious in general) are brain washed, and usually go down a list of reasons, so I do it to turn tables. We both have different beliefs, both sides believe they are thinking logically and the other isnt. Both sides have had reasons as to what led them to believe this, so..., if one is brainwashed then so is the other... know what I mean?

See, there is a difference between those who are bugged with religion and true atheists.
The main difference is that jesus-freaks are taught as children and the BS is loaded into their brains in the form of indoctrination. THAT is the brainwashing.
Atheists usually emerge at a later stage of their lives, having absorbed all there is to know about both sides of the equation and having made an independent judgment.
As an athiest from the age of 12 and 'out of the closet' at 15, there is no way that I was brainwashed. I figured it out for myself. Ah the wonders of a good education!
Try it sometime, preferably sooner than later?
