Imperialism has been around since the beginning of time. And will continue as long as one nation is more powerful than its neighbors.
The reason? Resources, influence, human nature? Hate?

Quick answer: money. But that doesn't mean imperialism is of necessity a bad thing. Do you feel exploited every time you shop in a new store? Or do you go in the new store thinking there may be some advantage to your shopping there? The answer may not be apparent until you've done your shopping. Of course, if you are forced into the store at gunpoint....
I'm reminded of the picture when the U.S. Navy left Subic. One protester held a sign: Yankee Go Home--And Take Me With You.

people in US , Canada ,Australia , New Zealand today are enjoying the fruits of imperialism due to the imperial ambitions of the British Royal family.
Don't ask why ? just enjoy it.
Why are you so interested to look at the darker side of our British Empire ?

America still uses imperialistic policys and will continue to antill it falls but a last people do it for power wealth and the basic human concept of greed.
