No one is superior or inferior to anyone....so, why is there so much quarrel over who is real and who is not? I just don't get it. Maybe it's bcoz i'm still a teenager. But why can't adults put behind their differences when younger people can? Religions and beliefs are suppose to make us more civilised but people just become barbaric when talking about it. Why?? What do you all think? Any opinions are acceptable...

There is controversy because no religion agrees with any other one, and everyone thinks only theirs is right. Religion is an intensely personal thing, so if you were to discover yours is wrong, then you are wrong to the core and everything you've believed in has been a waste of time. That's hard to take, so people defend their religions the best they can and try to make the OTHER religions look wrong, which translates to prejudice, quarreling, and becoming barbaric.

People are to a large extent brainwashed into their religious beliefs; most people don't develop their religion of their own free will. For some reason we fight like tigers to defend beliefs that have been instilled into us by an outside force, whereas if we come to a realisation of spirituality on our own, we have no problem reasoning it out with others who hold different views. This is just a personal observation. It's like we put a cloak of rules and regulations about how life should be lived around us, and if anyone challenges it, they are threatening our security, and we must defend it for fear we might lose the only thing holding our lives together. It's weird, but I'm not a psychologist, so I can't tell you why.

Wow!! Good question!

I don't think anyone can answer this and make any sense of it because there are so many different beliefs and religions who all have their own axe to grind.

I am sure you will get a lot of opinions here and I think most people recognize the fact that you are just asking for information and not trying to start a war.

Personally, I don't know why people are the way they are. Some are selfish, cold, unforgiving, and ruthless. Fortunately, that doesn't represent the masses, but apparently you have seen your share or you wouldn't have posed the question.

Hallo, I'm a teen too, and i dont really think there should be conflicts because of beliefs, but the thing is, it's in the human nature to fight. Also, many religions (though not all) say that their god is the only god, and that people who do not believe in their religion are evil sinners. Now, bearing that in mind, can you see why other people from different cultures and religions get offended?
Of course, the simple solution is for everyone to convert to one faith, and that's what loads of religious leaders have been trying to do, but that just isn't possible. Basically, we all fight, but if we stopped fighting, there wouldn't be any more purpose for religions.

Sistal wrote "opinions, like assholes, everybody has one." It comes down to just how much each person thinks their religion is right.
Said a Mate, Jamie: Religions have started more wars.
Consider why: Wanting power (religious right, especially in USA) and fundamentalist Muslim terrorists. They each proport to worship the same God, but apparently not.
Personally I go along with a live and let live attitude, unless being shot at or threatened with being blown up. I am an Anglican, for the record.

That's an interesting observation and very astute. For totally different Gods, belief systems and rules to live by, well the answer is obvious. However I've observed that even in the same religion, the same denomination, and the exact same corner church, people still argue about what they should believe, exactly? They argue minor points about how they should live, what it all means, and can get very heated and angry about it all. I guess it boils down to that in reality, we all belong to a congregation of one, and buy the way, I'm quite sure I'm right.

easy answer:
People get tied to their religions because they use the belief structure of that religion to order their place in life and the universe. So, they can not tolerate the thought that everything they have been praying to is not really there, or that they have been worshipping a false God. People view religion as their reason for existence, and this is why they will argue in chat forums, knock on your door at 5am, and kill each other.

oh yes, inferior people exist.
but gifts come with greater blessings to the weak.
barbarism and brutishness was/is condemned as the word of God in the old testament.
I think hatred and bigotry perpetuate themselves and throughout time noOne knows any difference.
If you meet someone with Hard Relgious beliefs and it is used to condemn another. that person who feels hurt will never join such a church. On the other hand, if you beguile a soul into joining your church, and become indoctrinated in the ONLY"chosen" doctrine of salvation, then Nothing else will save you.

Religions are powerful forces -- which is why it's important that those not inclined to religion understand how they function. They both reflect the religionist's perception of reality and shape those very perceptions.

The extent to which this excludes other views varies, which makes it quite inaccurate to say that ALL religions do this or that. The conflicts tend to arise when religion is used for other ends like political or economic.

Because God wrote everything down in a big book, called the bible, but not everybody can understand this book so you need to get some guy to explain it to you, and then he makes a career out of explaining this book.

Unfortunately there is ANOTHER god called allah, who also has a big secret magic book, so thats when things get complicated.

What I am saying is that only a moron would believe that god wrote everyrhing down in a big secret magic book, and only an idiot could interpret such a book literally. Unfortunately there are millions who do.
