In California, it is legal to make a left on a red IF:
You are on a one way street, AND
You are making a left onto a one way street flowing to the left AND
There is no sign saying that it is illegal (i.e., "NO LEFT TURN ON RED")

Yes, depending on the state. All states have right turn on red, and all or most have left turn on red from a one-way street to a one-way street.

most states and foriegn countries allow the one way to one way turn on red if you are in the proper lane.....you should have clearance of the on-coming traffic as well as no blind corner---if you are a new driver in Calif. and a CHP gave you a ticket for this turn you should go back and take a look at this corner and see if it was a fair ticket or maybe you need photos for the judge to see ---- don't be nervous or sweat in court and if it is first ticket you can keep it off your record by taking the "driver improvement" course_________ I hope this is the answer that you were seeking and I didn't mean to assume too much.....wc

I would not think so, it is illegal in Canada because that a good way to get into an fatal car accident if a car was coming at you. Unless it has a flashing green arrow pointing left under other red light which may indicate you can turn left on any street of an intersection.

The answer to this should be in front of you, as most states post signs stating rather you may turn right/left on red. when in doubt go to or call you local dmv.

It is never legal to turn LEFT when the light is red. Right turn on red after stop is comon law, and must be posted: No right turn on red, or No turn on red.

Unless there is a sign indicating otherwise;
a RED light means STOP!
You should be fully aware of the road rules before you obtain a Drivers licence.
There is no second chance if a collision is fatal.
