THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING. i recently was driving by and i heard a lady scream out someone stole her purse and the FAT cop saw it and dropped his muffin or something and ran after him for like a block and stopped because he was tired. the thief got away. so why are FAT cops being hired if they can't run after suspects? shouldn't officers have fitness center's to go to?

You were DRIVING by... and you heard a lady scream the entire sentence, that someone stole her purse... and as you were DRIVING by, you observed this "fat" cop running after the thief for an entire block...
Ok. The problem here isn't fat cops. It's you paying entirely too much attention to everything BUT your driving. Fortunately for the rest of the driving world (and pedestrians), you must have been driving only 2 miles per hour to have caught all those details while you were "DRIVING BY."

what were you driving a moped, to catch all the action, maybe the person that was screeming, was the one you hit by not paying attention to detail,( in front of your face) detail, and if you noticed this, why did'nt you go after him, to answer your question on why there are FAT police on the streets, is, 1) they are over in iraq, as if you did not notice. 2) all they have left are the ones behind the desks pushing pencils.3) then if you think there are to many FAT cops on the streets, why don't yourself become a public servant, or has your sack dropped yet.

Good point-but police officers work for a living and thus do have some rights, so their employers can't just tell to be slim or get fired. I doubt he was fat when he was hired. Besides; fat cop's forte might not be chasing thieves, but he might be asset to his force in a lot of other ways.

its not that they can't do anything.
There are different section in police , from some of them you need brain work, some provide information, Some provide physical work , also there are some section where you need all.
Also when they are recruited may be they are not fat, but become fat, if dept does not have physical test system, they survive.
May be that officer is good at other things, or may be he is not a good officer at all.
Any way it is good if all police officers have a good physique.

You think they wouldn't rather be sprinting after purse snatchers than dodging IED's?
