p s means post script and its just a little note of something you forgot to include in the letter, its always for infomal letters, not proper for a business letter.

It should be written P. S.
As mentioned once above, it is the abbreviation for Post Scriptum, which is Latin for "after the writing", and it means the writer finished the letter/note/whatever and then remembered someting that should have been included, so it was added "after the writing".
P. S.
If yet another point comes up after the P. S. is finished, it becomes a P. P. S. That's "after the after the writing". Add another "P." for any more added. I've seen letters with up to P. P. P. P. S. - but that was from a cousin who never could get his thoughts together anyway.

It is short form for post script or a small note that the person who wrote it wants you to know ! Man ! Did you put PS on your letter through your life and NOT know what is it ???
