If you die as an athiest, when you get to the other side and realize there is a god is it ok for you to ask for forgiveness then? Cant you just own up to your mistakes face to face?

Christians ask for forgiveness here on earth through prayer. They expect to be forgiven based on certain verses.

I believe that you can ask for forgiveness when you see god, because the bible promises everlasting life. Even in hell you live forever so technically you do not die.

My salvation is not based on the presumption that I have recited a few verses.

First, I believe that Jesus rose from the dead and is now alive. Being alive I understand that He speaks for himself.

My salvation now, is sealed in the promise that He made in His blood and is faithfull to fulfill, and not in my ability to perform in any way.

This now opens up channels for comunication.
I don't need to be kneeling or hands clasped together, I simply speak to Jesus. Jesus, simply answers and from his answers I get to understanding what He is like and who He is. I know Him and He knows me, We have a relationship. Now that I have seen His character (which is truly GOOD) I've noticed that I am truly NOT good. Now I see what is sinfull about me, and that is a terrible feeling at first. I'm extremely sorry for those wicked things I think and do and say, and I say, " Oh Lord, what have I done, I'm so terrible, someone is gonna have to pay!"

THAT'S WHEN HE REMINDS ME THAT HE ALLREADY HAS PAID for me.

My love for Jesus deepens. And so because of that, I desire most of all to be like him, and find that sin is more disgusting and more repulsive to me now, than ever.

It's all because He first loved me.

I know He takes deathbed confessions made in sincerity, but I don't know about after death.
You do realize of course that He will point out that He gave me to you for this, and may ask why you didn't believe me or even test my message.

This is something you may wish to put into practice before you make a horrible mistake.

If it doesn't work out like I describe it, then you probably haven't much to worry about.

But, If it does.... Well you know!

if ur an athiest and when u go to heaven and then u relize, its too late. u had ur chance, and u probably wouldnt even mean it. God loves u,and so does Jesus. If u ask for forgivness,he will forgive u. life is a test and He is watching what u make of it. he gave us free will so we cant blame him for our earth polluting mistakes and blame him for our familys death. He could of made us all believe, but for some of us that would be like lying. He loves u if ur muslim, jewish, athiest or a dog. He loves everybody and everything. im praying for u that u will see the Holy light, but if u dont thats ur choice. im not forcing u,and life is whatever u make of it. hetty, age 11

"It is appointed for men to die once, and after this comes judgment" (Hebrews 9: 27)
"Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all men everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead (Acts 17:30-31)
When you die, you will be in one of 2 states - either you will be spiritually alive ("this is eternal life - that they may know You (God the Father) the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent" - John 17:3) OR, you will be spiritually dead - "And you being dead in your trespasses and sins...being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart - Ephesians 2:1; 4:18). If you are spiritually alive, your spirit will ascend, attended by the angels of God, into the Paradise of God. If you are spiritually dead, your spirit will descend into the lower parts of the Earth (yes, literally!), and you will find yourself in a place of torment with myriads of other torment souls and countless demons, awaiting the final judgment of God, where every word/thought/deed you have ever committed will be weighed and punishment meted out in direct proportion to your guilt; and you will be cast into a lake of fire. THIS IS WHY JESUS DIED ! He doesn't want you going there ! But you must repent, call upon His name, and ask Him to save you - and stop listening to all the lying demons that speak into your mind day by day telling you this is just a big fairy tale. Haven't you seen enough evil in the earth yet to realize there are some very serious issues going down ? Don't play games with your soul - the stakes are too high. I'm telling you I know what I say is true - I've had a taste of Hell and a taste of Heaven. Ain't no game - repent, turn around, and belief the Gospel .

If you know deep down that there is a God and you still claim you are an athiest, I think you will have to pay a much higher price than an athiest who actually believes in his heart that there is no God. I think God will give a second chance to the ones who are truly ignorant, but judge the others on their actual knowledge of truth, and the rejection of it.

Forgiveness is overlooking what never in truth happened.

An atheist would experience their belief in oblivion until they "come to", and realize that they ARE having an experience. Then as ego drops away, they find that reality is reality, and they are loved perfectly.

The reality behind the word "God" is wiser than the world understands. God does not create "sin", then punish the sinner, an obviously insane doctrine that would eventually drive God "Himself" deeper into His psychosis.

God knows only one "judgment", that Its creation (us) remains forever whole, incapable of any but perfect life, love, peace, and creativity...and joy.

Well the bible says that everyone will get a chance in life to make their decision to be on God's side and go to heaven or eternally burn in hell. It all depends on what we decide, hopefully you don't pass up that opertunity before it's too late. Yes we christians ask for 4givness through pray but pray is like we are talk'n to God. When Jesus died on the cross he died and took on all pain and suffering that anyone and everyone has ever experienced so that we could live eternally, not in our physicall bodies but our spirits. When we ask for 4giveness God hears us and has already forgive'n us but he wants us to come to him and confess and ask to be forgiven.

I suppose.

This verse, however, came from this forum and I've been mulling it over for days now.

Luke 12

47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself , neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes .
48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes . For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

It would seem God might be more lienient with the non-beleiver than the believer who fails to do their duties.

When you take on a responsibility, such as professing a belief, you take on all the duties that come with that belief system.

So everything seems to come back to our work and deeds in life that we knowingly must do.

I think, if there is a God, that he doesn't base his judgement on whether or not you believe in him, but whether or not you are truly a good person. Some religious people think that they're going to heaven because they believe in God and they go to chuch every sunday and whatnot, but they lie and cheat and talk about others behind their backs, and I think that God, if he was fair, wouldn't let those kind of people into heaven just because they believed in him.Don't you think that would be kind of vain of him? Even atheists should be able to go to heaven if they are good-hearted.

Yes. God is a loving God. He loves us no matter what. What matters is what is in your soul. No one knows you better than God himself, he created you afterall. God knows that many of his children don't understand the higher power. Sometimes he just has to call you home to show you what it's all about.
