What kind of camcorder must I have in order for me to get a good view / picture and record it on my pc without destroying the image / picture that is more or less 100 meters away from me? Is it possible to make it as if it is only 5 to 7 meters away from me? ( like taking pictures at home, etc) I need it badly because I want to have a record of persons who are probably watching our house of which I am not familiar with. This will also avoid mis-interpretation if I will personally stare at those persons at short distances. Thank you.

It is best to use a camcorder with the maximum OPTICAL zoom capacity. Some camcorders advertise as much as 500x zoom, but these just magnify a small part of the centre of the image, and quality is very poor "pixelated", at high magnification. And a tripod or similar is essential with high magnification settings.
A digital (DV) or Digital8 (8mm) camcorder will have a Firewire output, a small rectangular scocket, which allows downloading to a PC/laptop with a firewire input. Using a digital camcorder means the picture is not dedgraded, unlike analogue ones. Firewire is sometimes called ilink or referred to as IEE1394.
