should i cut my hair, even though my friends say i shouldnt?

I have long brown hair thats down to the middle of my back. I've had it like this for a while, and I'm getting tired of the same thing. I really want to cut it short -- like, right above my shoulders with a really cute style, but when I've mentioned it to my friends, they've all told me that they like the way my hair is now and that I should keep it the way it is. I'm really scared that if I do cut it short, it's going to end up looking bad, but at the same time, I really want a change. I'm really not sure if my friends are right, or if they just have a bad perception haha. I'm pretty short (5"1') if that makes any difference to how a haircut would look haha

Depending on your age and your business (if you are in business) I'd say that a radical change would be even better than a moderate one. Tiny women look great with buzz cuts or some really short style.

Hair grows and though most men are attached to that wonderful feminine style (do you whip your boyfriend with your hair?) if you opt for a big, big change, then you can look forward to growing it out again or having a good time with different looks over the next couple of years.

If you are afraid of the look, just go to a salon and ask to try on wig that is similar to the look you are thinking of. Or you may find someone with a computer program that will give you many different looks without snipping a hair.

If you were my lady, I'd want you to do what made you happy, but it would be really exciting if you either let it grow to your waist or whacked it all off. Middle ground is pretty boring, isn't it?

Well, my dear, it is your hair, and you should do what you want to! Your friends are used to seeing you with long hair, so they probably can't imagine you any other way.

If you decide to cut it, go to www.locksoflove.org and look at the pictures of the smiling faces who received wigs from donated hair. This organization makes and gives wigs to disadvantaged young people under 18 who have lost their hair due to medical reasons.

The stylist puts a rubber band around your hair a little below the length you want your hair to be. Then she cuts it above the rubber band. Put it in a plastic bag, and then into a padded envelope to mail. The only requirement is that your hair be clean, dry, and you are donating at least 10 inches. What a wonderful thing you could do for someone!

So just do what you wish! Look through some magazines for hairstyles of women with the same general shape face as yours. If it looks good on them, it will look good on you! Take the pictures with you when you go to the salon. There are so many cute hairstyles these days, and once you get used to the new length, I'm sure you will love it---and your friends will, too!

Maybe You Could Go in Between && Have It Just Below Your Shoulders && Layered && Feathered && Maybe A Lil Side Fringe. This Way It Is Still Shorter && In A Cute Style, Which Is How You Want It, But Your Friends Will Think It'll Suit You Because It Won't Be Too Short Lol..x Good Luck!

Just so you know cutting your hair above your shoulders, makes you look more seriouse and older, where as having your hair long makes you look younger, teenager like, you get my point. Sometimes when you cut your hair really short it wont grow back to the length you had it before, or even close to that length.

How about you buy the programe named Cosmo Polatin ( i believe that is the way you spell it) and see how you would look like with short hair, with the style you like. Good Luck!

Honestly short girls look taller with a shorter hair cut. I disagree with your friends. I think it would be nice for a new change especially during this holiday season. Go to a professional and get it done there because it'll be worth it. And even if you don't like the haircut because it's too short, it's just hair and hair will grow out. But you never will know if you like it unless you try.

Do you look good with it pulled back into a pony tail? If you do, it should be ok to wear short hair. Maybe you could call around to hospital cancer wards and find out who makes wigs for the kids from donated hair. Then you can cut your hair for a good cause and get your short style that you want. After all, it will grow back if you don't like it.

well you have to consider the texture of your hair as well. but if you really feel that you want to cut your hair but arent sure, go to the salon and get a consutation from a specialist. the consultation is free and just tell the salon person what you want to do and then theyll give you an opionion. since they work with hair all the time, they would know how the hair style on you would work or not. but remember no matter what the salon person says its ultimately up to you what to get done to your hair. oh and if you do decide to get a short cut, see if your hair is long is enough to get it donated for those kids who have cancer and had to lose their hair for treatment. you'll make their day.

Do not cut your hair. Girls pay to get extensions so it looks longer! Try out a short-hair wig at a store to get an idea of what you'll look like with the style you want, then you'll have an idea of what you want and if you want it. If you want to try new things with your hair, try putting it up or giving it different hairstyles. But do not cut it!

I had long hair and cut it really short because people said why dont you cut your hair its so long so I did and hated it now its about the length you want and I still dont like it I want it back long I will never cut it short again.If you want to cut it then do so maybe cut a little at a time.

Now realize that your friends don't own you, and even though it is nice to get their opinion you can't make it your final decision. You need to decide what to do, not your friends. Maybe if you are still deciding you should maybe just try cutting of a few inches and then layering it, it will give it another effect but will still not be to short, that way if you don't like it, it will grow out faster.
