I have been depressed for a while...And for the last few days, I've seriously thought about taking my own life. I'm not thinking that at this moment, but I might feel differently later on. I never know. Should I go ahead and try to get help, or should I wait?

To answer your specific question, if you are having suicidal thoughts then you need to seek out someone that can help you. 911 is perfectly OK to call. They can transfer you to a suicide hotline where people specializing in suicide prevention can speak with you. Or they can send an officer to check you out and give you info on suicide prevention, or if you want an ambulance they can send you one of those as well.

Never think about asking for help from any source. Just by asking the question you arw telling yourself you are in need of help. Go get it and you will not regret it.

Get HELP NOW , DO NOT WAIT Sometimes depression occurs because the brain all of a sudden due to unfortunate event, Nutrition, Hormonal Ibalance a number of things, gets a chemical imbalance and the person gets and stays very depressed and in such cases seeing a doctor and gettin/taking medication that will give balance back to the brain helps tremendously . Sometimes too life becomes overpowering and it can help to keep a journal where you write the things that depress, why depressed and often just getting out of your mind and onto paper and in a way controlling your thoughts will help. Of course therapy can be a tremndous help. But you need to not allow the depression to overpower you and get Help Now so Tomorrow Can and Will be Better. Also Pray for the Holy Spirit(God) to keep you safe while you work through this. Wish you Joy

It's never too early to seek someone to talk too when feeling as you are. There is always someone out there for you to talk too. Don't wait until you feel like that again. Call someone NOW!! .

I have often wondered the same thing, but thank goodness I've called a hot line or someone i trusted and talked it out. It makes all the difference in the world, and you just might feel better after wards.

Better consult a psychiatrist at once. Dont ever take your life. Remember that all problems have their own solutions. You might be luckier than other people & yet they survive.
Better tell your problems to a person whom you can confide. Your parents are the best persons who will listen to you. They dont want any harm to be done on you. Go to your parish priest & ask for advice. There are alternatives to vent out your problems. Probably you can go to your best friend.
Life is beautiful! The Lord is just testing you! This is to make a better & stronger person in you!

If you are not going to do it now, don't call 911. Do immediately go to your doctor or emergency room and tell them you have these thoughts. They will help you and refer you to a professional counselor to help you as well.

Life is worth living and you will never know what future you might have had if you end it. I know.... I lived.... and this summer I held my first grandchild in my arms. Oh.... what I might have missed over the years if I had succeeded so long ago to take my life!

Don't wait. Call for help now.

God Bless,

Sue

Go to the ER, I don't know that you need to call 911 though. We (ER's) routinely take care of people feeling the same way you are. We can provide crisis intervention and get you help (set you up with counselors or hospitals, depending on the situation). Don't be afraid to go to the ER.

Check in your phone book, there are several place that have emergency help and can refer you to a mental health agency that will help you. I'm going through the same thing but I try and remember that suicide is a permanent solution for a temporary problem. Have faith.

911 is for life and death immediate emergencies only. Although I do suggest that you seek a suicide hotline or get a therapist. Good luck!
