Do you think if I when I die and subsequently discover that oops, there is a heaven, that the American Atheists symbol tattooed on my left arm will prevent me from entering?

You have to be kidding. This is a joke, yes?
Me deny reality? Reality is what I live in and for.
All and any imagined deities throughout history have been dumped when a better idea comes along. However, no better ideas are being accepted by the bulk of the educated population these days and it has been a couple of thousand years since the last scam was perpetrated upon a weak and confused populace, who were then seeking rescue from their plight.
The only people who now embrace religion are those who cannot think for themselves, who have been indoctrinated into a 'faith' as a child and can't (even daren't) shake it off and see life and death for what they really are, the sadly uneducated and the 'sheep' who blindly accept what they are told and what they read in the book of lies.
When I die, not too far away now, I will die and rot into the ground. Nothing more and nothing less.
A dream is what religion is - a fanciful series of images believed to be true but generated by one's own imagination. All backing up a need by weak people who need a parent-figure in their lives to look after them - even an imaginary one.
Anyone over 12 years old must surely have got to grips with Santa Claus (another lie based on reward and punishment), the Tooth Fairy, etc, etc and finally at a maximum age of perhaps 15 years, be in a position mentally to be able to dump the concept of a god, allah, jehovah or whatever name and spelling you care to choose.
All gods are man-made inventions.
Heaven is right here on earth in this life. There is nothing more. Cope with it.
Of course, the question can always be reversed. What happens when you die and ................ nothing. What a waste of time and money it has all been. But you will never know because you will be dead, finished, over.
Silly question that has been asked by jesus-freaks many, many times before. What do you expect intelligent beings to respond with? ... "Oh! You're right! I made a mistake! Ooops!" Not on your life, sunshine.
Get real?

I grew up in church, i spent all of my young life in church, i even went to college and studied religion. I am an athiest i guess you can say. I don't believe in a God or Spirit or Lifeforce. I have been asked that question many times. What will i do if i die and there is a God. My question is what will all the people that claim to believe in God do when they meet God. I would think if you truely believed in God, you would follow his word to the "T" I have yet yo find many that can even come close, as much as they would like to think they do. If there is a God and I am wrong. I guess I will get whatever he feels i deserve. I am not afraid of it, or the thought of it. I don't think anyone truely believes in God. You surely can not believe in the written word of God because it is corrupted by man. Take the King James Bible. That is a perfect example. That's HIS version of the bible. So if you read that version, you know right there, you are not getting the whole story... just the parts he wants you to know. I find religion very interesting and the history of it, even though I don't believe in it. I am not sure how old you are or what you enjoy, but if you ever get the chance to study religion both in and out of church, I think it will chance your ideal on how it all works. I will never bad mouth religion, I think it has done many good things for people, and i believe it teaches very good core values. I will take my children to Church, so they have the opportunity to learn as i did, and then make their own decisions. My suggestion would be not to listen to people around you or members of church. Find your own material and do your learning, and learn from every side. That is the best TRUE way.

Well I'm not a true atheist but I understand a lot of their thinking.
In the event that I died and realized that there was really a god then, by the Christian belief I would go to hell right? No problem. Because then you face a theological paradox. You have a just god that you just acknowledged that has damned you for not believing in him. But, it would be unjust for him to keep me in hell for all eternity. (Why spend an eternity repenting for something that happened within only at most 100 years or so)? Especially when I learned instantly after death that there was a god? It's illogical. So in that case I would be in hell for however long i needed as decided by this God and then follow him in heaven.
If that didn't occur than I would know that there isn't a true all loving and all just god and i would be at ease that i was right in the first place.
Atleast if i was a true atheist that's what I'd say
Also, A majority of the answers so far are most likely from teenagers or young adults that are just to lazy to believe in anything. So I'd suggest not paying attention to them. True Atheism takes a lot of work and a lot of thought. You need to look at history, how religion has been used and compare it to what it is.
Not to mention people tend to get touchy and often radical when it comes to their spiritual beliefs.

jc,
You really shouldn't post this stuff if you don't want to totally embarrass yourself. This question demonstrates ignorance at so many levels that I would do a quick exit myself.
Let's get to your question. I am an atheist because all the theories of god that I have been presented are all illogical in contrast to what I know about the world. The closest one that makes any sense is buddhism but, hey, let's just say I'm not a joiner. My atheism is not a result of ignorance, as your belief in a god seems to be.
At present, it is estimated that there are 4200 different and distinct religious groups operative in the world right now. This does not include all the many thousands of eariler relgions that have fizzled out. You are, no doubt, a member of one and only one of these groups, many of which are permutations of christianity but distinct enough that they separate themselves ideologically from yours. What are you going to do when you die and discover that the right god was the god of the snake-handlers of Kentucky? or that the Rostafarians had it right all this time? You would be in the same boat as not only me and my fellow atheists but all the other silly people like you who never thought to question their own beliefs. (Everyone is an atheist to a person of a different faith.)
JC, let's face it, you are not well schooled in theology. People who are don't ask ignorant and presumptive questions like this one. You have chosen fit to worship a god who decided to cast all the world's evil on two humans who picked a fruit from the tree of KNOWLEDGE. Get the irony? Your god wants you to be stupid and you sure are doing that obligation proud.
Go pray to your god and leave the humans alone.

You are either very young (and Naive) or Foreign I haven't figured out which, and I did'nt feel like going through your profile, so as an Author and a non- Christian, I wouldn't mind answering your question if it wasn't so poorly contrived and just plain confusing.
The first thing you want to learn how to do if you're going to write a book, is to use SPELL CHECK, because your text is simply annoying. The next thing that is extremely important if you expect anyone to read through the first paragraph of what you write, is to have solid facts, and proof about what it is that you speak. For instance even though I am a very experienced Chef as well as an author, I wouldn't write a book on Lebanese cooking, because I myself have no true experience with that. The reason that most Atheists do not believe in God is because we are intellectual people who need proof, not just what you learned from some "out dated hear say book" called the bible, which by the way I think is a very good book, I just wouldn't go basing a religion on it. So my point is, unless you yourself have died, seen or even talked to GOD, came back to earth and decided to post your question on Yahoo answers...I doubt you have an authentic piece to write about. Atheists simply stated...just say no to brainwashing.

I have never thought about it that way because I have never been so desperately emotional nor psychotic about the dreams I have had. Maybe you talk to people with weaker minds or you have not talked to enough people. First of all, when I dream I know I am dreaming. The dreams usually seem pretty pleasant or they are helping me to resolve something. Secondly, it makes absolutely no sense for you to ask me to tell what I will do when I don't believe what I believe. Thirdly, if when I die the God that has tortured so many people and has ruled through the fear of damnation (as I assume you are referring to as the greatest fear I should have) I would tell that God that there is a greater sacrifice than that of Jesus. I am willing to go to hell forever in protest of God having such terrible morals. Jesus never died for anybody. How can he have died if he is in heaven right now? I can imagine morals greater than those put forth in the bible. I don't believe it all to be true, but if I imagine what you have said, that would be my response. You might as well pray for God to book my ticket to hell.

"This is a deep question for my book so please try to answer the question and not deny the reality like always"
Have you considered that you're denying reality like always?
I really pity you. All your questions tonight have been so cliche...with no original thought and no logic. I'm actually embarrassed for you. This question is no different. It's been asked numerous times by other people too lazy to check Yahoo answers for other similar questions. It wouldn't even be so bad if your questions made some sense and were easy to read. But they're not. You're just perpetuating the cliche stereotype of the illiterate xian with no common sense.
It's also clear you're not reading any of the answers to your questions. So many tonight have asked you to make a little effort to speak more clearly, and still you haven't even tried.

Which God??? What religion??? Religion in general is a belief and faith system. Just because one is an athiest does not mean they arent spiritual in some manner. Whether god exists or doesn't is a personal belief. I am so sick of the constant battles on here and questions to instigate those battles of who is right and who is wrong in terms of religion.
I think people should spend more time thinking about how they are living now and less time how things will be when they die.

Yeah your right that was deep, I need to roll up my pants legs. Why can't people like you get it through their heads that some people are not physically able to have faith in a thing that can not be proven, it is not our faults that we are like this and to force it would make us hypocrites, sorry I can't live like that, and it wouldn't be sincere. So if there is a God and heaven and all that, then God would know this about us, and not blame us for it in the first place. Sometimes the way that you think is not a choice but apart of our physical make up.

what will you do when you die and realise your life was wasted believing in a god that doesnt exist and yer stuck in a void of emptiness..of nothingness...and the whole time you went around worshipping something that was as real as my nephews invisible friend?
What will you do when you discover you spent your life living a lie created by man so long ago..a lie..which had absolutely no truth to it?
I don't have to worry about your question...because there is no god..just as there is no Odin or Thor....In this day an age you would think people would realise that.
PS: Atheists dont NEED helping...We have learned to exist in a REAL world...not a fantasy world where everything is in the hand of the great man in the clouds..We realise that sometimes..things and people are just stupid and life aint fare..no great plan..we just accept our own faults and responsibilites rather than needing a fictional character to support us because we lack a spine to stand on our own two feet..
Incidently..if I wanted to worship a fictional character..it would be Spider-man...Not God..KKTHXBAI
