My cat is SUPER agressive. I understand she is wild, but I think shes seriously mentally challenged. When I go to feed her, she'll walk up to me and start hissing as if IM the one whos chasing HER. Why is she so territorial?

Did you get her as a kitten from a shelter or "adopt" a feral?

If she comes from a feral community and was caught at over 8 weeks of age, she will be imprinted by the ferals and may just be like that for ever. In the feral world it is first in gets the best food and intimidation plays a great part.
I tend to think she is a feral, or not properly socialised, and you may just have to put up with it. Definately leaning towards feral.

I have been fostering some kittens who were from feral parents, but were caught very young. One still needed bottle feeding as she wasnt weaned. She went in with two other domestic kittens who just needed to get a bit older and gain weight. They helped with her socialisation.
The others have only just arrived here, and are a lttle bit nervous of people. Maybe it is because every time I pick them up i search for ticks and they have only been here since yesterday. (When they came in they were covered with ticks.)
Once picked up they are quite happy to be layed on their back so I can do a search around their arm pits and groin area.Luckily thay are still small enough I can hold and get rid of the tick by myself. Once they are old enough and heavy enough to be adopted, they will be pretty blase about how they are handled

If u adopted her from a shelter or initially found her as a stray cat, its her most likely behavior...agressive with all that hissing... she might have been maltreated before by a human and thinks that every human coming her way may hurt her. give her some time alone. make sure she sees you refilling her food bowl -- she will eventually think ur there to care for her and not to hurt her...

If she is truly wild as you say then she was never socialized around people. She does not know what you are and merely treats you as another cat. And if you are near her food (ie kill) of course she's going to growl and hiss at you. You might be another cat trying to steal it from her.

(As an aside-- it's amazing to me how many people misinterpret lack of socialization as signs of abuse? Why do we always suspect the worst of our fellow man?)

You need to let your cat know whos boss. She is trying to be dominant over y ou like you were another cat. Cats have a pecking order with other cats and your included. You need to look your cat in the eyes until she looks away and show her whos boss.
I know it sounds crazy but my cat is docile and nice because I let her know im the boss. Shes a good cat.

You need to be patient. Her behaviour doesn't mean she's mentally challenged but just that she didn't get the socialisation other cats get from kitten. Mine was difficult, frightened and we couldn't go near her at the beginning but three years on and now she sleeps on our lap...in her own terms, but that's ok. It just takes time.

Are you saying your cat is feral? Unfortunately, a cat that has gone totally wild cannot be tamed. You will never have a lap cat in this one.

Oh sure! each and all of the time lol, it makes me leap up with fright and say sorry (cats call) and then I understand it extremely is barely between the cats rubber balls that i'm stepping on. it is so humorous while that occurs! lol

Have her checked by a vet and if she gets a clean bill of health then you just have a cat with a attitude. But my cat would attack anyone who peted him or tried to pick him up.

The key word is "wild"....she is just warning you, she has not been tamed, shes just protecting whats hers, stick with it, she will soon learn to trust you Although it might take time.........
good luck

some cats are just extremely aggressive. my boyfriend's cat doesn't like any body but me or my boyfriend to be around him. he attacks people that he doesn't know. he's done this since he was a kitten and he's three years old.
