Well, the thing is maybe she's paying attn to you because she just broke up and needed, just like i said, attention from you. The question is why you? Maybe she finds something in you, friendly or maybe she's finally attracted to you in some way. The only way not to get hurt is to ask her frankly about what she really wants.

Well - you're making an assumption that she doesn't like you as far as I can tell from what you've written.
If she's on the rebound as you mention, you're right to be careful, bouncy situations like that often don't last, and on rare occasions they do...
So if you really like her, you need to make a decision.
1 - Take a big risk, and possible heart break, and go for it.
2 - Tell her your concerns, think about it a bit and make a choice from 1 or 3 and
3 - Tell her you just want to be friends.
And there's 4 of course, which is have fun, don't get emotionally attached and both of you move on, with nobody getting hurt... but that's pretty rare in my experience...

if you REALLY like the girl, keep your distance... DONOT be the rebound guy!!!! Just keep distance, but not too far that someone will come in and take her, make your presence felt but do not suffocate her... do you see where i am going with this.
The sneaky way (my pers fav ways) is finding out what went wrong in the relationship from HER prespective, then in the conversation or by action SUTTLY point how how you are opposite. For example if the girl hated that her ex alwasy turned up late. You make sure you turn up on time, and point out how much you hate people who are late... this way you are creating a bond between you two....
but make sure DONOT get stuck in frinds zone. BELIEVE ME THAT IS PAIN!!!

This could be a rebound thing for her, or she might really want to get reaquainted with you, either way, dont rush things. Take it slow and just enjoy being friends, dont accidently ruin something because you pushed things. she just got out of a relationship so you dont want to jump on the chance right away, let her grieve a bit if she needs to
