Cats just LOVE the stimulation of a tree, fake or real, and all it's baubles. They can't seem to resist. One year I found the cutest Christmas cards of a cat that was charging a tree. That would make a cute stamp!

We have the same problem. They only like it, sometimes my cats even sleep in there. And by the way its cat's nature to climb up stuff and your cat's climbing your tree because it's probably the first time he saw it.

Cats love climbing and a Christmas Tree is a perfect place for them to climb. They especially like to play with the ornaments and lights. They're naturally curious and playful; they can't help it! Good luck keeping him out and lets hope it doesn't come crashing down on him!

Because that what cats do.They love to climb and the ordaments and lights catch their attention. Not sure how to stop it.Im sure that alot will tell you to squirt the cat with a water bottle but personaly squirting water towards a tree that has electricity running all through it from the lights just dont make since to me.

Cats looooooooooooooooovvvvve trees. A Xmas tree is just like any other tree, but the xmas tree has more brightly coloured baubles and all the tinsels hanging are yummy to chew and SWALLOW!!!! its like grass!!!!!

I could only put my tree up when I was on holiday. Every time I decorated, on weekends, about 3 hours of a whole day decorating would be spent running after my 5 maine-coons to get all the balls, tinsels, father xmas etc out of their mouths.

When I came home from work each day, my Xmas tree was down, the lights had been chewn (that freaked me out because of the glass lights) I did not leave the electricity on so that was ok, my lounge was in chaos. And all five would sit looking at me to see if I was going to play with them in the xmas tree.

I put the xmas tree up for them to play with, did'nt I?????!!

What I do now, I bought a little xmas tree with accessories that they could not swallow and there pet toys hanging from the tree, and tied it to my stairs, next to their hanging toys. They play and hit each other, run up and down their ladder by the stairs, pinching tinsel, the tree is able to bend to their pulling and it has diverted their attention away from the BIG XMAS tree. I also tied little pieces of dried fish and their biscuits on their tree, and they love it!!!

MY XMAS TREE?? still standing!!

Don't forget their xmas presents on xmas day!!

Cats love to climb and your cat probably doesn't know it is fake. Use a spray bottle with water and spray him when he does it.

spray the tree with lemon juice or sour apple. you also could put lemon slices on the tree. this doesn't always work though. i put lemon slices on the tree and sprayed it with cat repellent and he still insisted on climbing it.
