Is this a trick question? You'd have to ask the believers circa 386 AD for the initial reason this Holy Day has been adopted w/o challenge for the last 1800 or so yrs. Happy Winter!

Well, thanks for the stereotype. I know its a pagan holiday, and I am a born again Christian.

Jesus was born between Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashanah, two Jewish feasts. This would make it late September to early October.

Christians took on this holiday when Catholics brought their pagan stuff with them, as they were pagan. They decided to celebrate the birth of Christ with this day. Christians use every day and every holiday to worship, and they really dont care much what the origin is, its just an opportunity to celebrate G-d.

But what do I know? I am just a mindless brainwashed idiot who is incapable of research or logic, following whatever people say like a calf in a herd of cattle, right? MOOOOOOOO. there, hope I made your day.

Blessings,
David

Many things have an origin. Simply because it is on Dec 25th doesn't mean it IS a pagan holiday. The day may have been chosen to reflect a pagan festival, but Christmas itself is not pagan. Its commercialized.
