Anything that he cannot obtain while he is there and things that he may run out of. My son is in the Middle East too and I am sending him snacks and sugarless gum, a Scrabble Game (the one that is in a small travel case,) for when he gets bored, eye drops, dvd's and cd's for his lap top computer, magazines that I think he will enjoy reading, and Smart Wool socks because he especially likes those because they can keep your feet warm or cool depending upon the weather and are well-cushioned. I am also going to get him a harmonica even though doesn't know how to play it because he couldn't take his viola with him. Depending upon where your boyfriend is stationed in Iraq, and what his job is, it may be best to send small items that are easily carried in a knapsack or in pockets as some of these guys are on the move a lot. When choosing gifts, just keep in mind that he is in a Muslim country so you have to be careful that things that you send are not an insult to that religion; you definately don't want to send any snacks that contain pork or that even say, "bacon flavored." (these were the instructions I was given.)
Whatever gift you send to him will be greatly appreciated, but regular letters from you expressing your love and telling of news from home will mean the very most
to him. Of course a picture is a good idea but I am not sure I'd send a nude one unless you don't mind other guys seeing it because if your boyfriend somehow lost it, others might see it.

The mother of a soldier currently serving his third tour of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan says to send gift cards for Wal-Mart. They are easy to use, they can get what they need, and they get there quicker. Wally World has a special arrangement with the government that gets the items to the soldiers quicker and often in better shape.

snack food and a nice long letter, or some pictures. Or if you do arts/crafts one of them Maybe a disposable camera. Make sure you check your stuff first to make sure you can send it.

When my cousin was serving in Iraq, his wife sent him an inflatable kitty pool. When we got it, he took it to the top of his base, graped a bottle of beer, filled the tub up and just sat on the roof. He really liked the gift... And it kind of made a funny picture with this colorful kitty pool with a Marine in it on a sandy background.

So that might be a good gift too

I served in Iraq as an Infantryman from Dec 2005 to July31 2006, dued to my injury when a rocket exploded behind my head. The best gift you can get you boyfriend are: Baby wipes;junk food(the ones he likes); pictures of you and letters; magazines(what he likes, straight forward porns-they don't sell these mags in the PX/BX).
Tell your bf I said good luck and I wish him well.

Wow, actually most military men DO believe in serving their country Rahuldroy, unlike the hundreds of non-serving whiners who do nothing but complain.

Mo, we're all pulling for him!!! :)

The pics idea is good.

Something baked, like cookies, is a good idea too - if you go that route, don't use ingredients that will melt, and make enough to share. It gives him an opportunity (with proof!) to tell all his buddies what a good catch he has "back home".

Anything to keep his spirits up will help, and something small that he can carry around with him at all times will keep you on his mind.

Hi
I think the best gift to send them is a letter from the government saying that they can come back home because most of them don't want to be there anymore. Hope this answers your question. Can you please register in my forum.
