Your question disturbs me, although I know that it is a valid question. I have never met a "mentally challenged" cat.

unsure. Can he hear? Is he neutered? Why does the vet say he's mentally challenged? That purely sounds like a vet that would not recognize why the cat's behaving like he's and is supplying you with a stupid answer so as which you supply up asking. attempt feeding him a good high quality cat nutrition that may not from a food market. flow to a puppy furnish shop and seek for a nutrition this is grain loose which comprise Blue Buffalo's 'desert'. Or well being's 'middle'. remember, cats are carnivores and don't choose grains of their diets. maybe he's purely attempting t permit you recognize to feed him a extra gratifying nutrition.

Yes it can happen, if there was inbreeding. I had a neighbor who had a cat who got pregnant by her brother her litter mate and she had retarded kittens. The kittens were strange one would walk sideways one would walk right into a wall. The cutest walked stiff legged, Her cat had seven Kittens and I think two or three survived to be adults.

If the cat had some sort of head injury, it could possably be brain damaged, either that or it could have nerve or spinal damage of some sort, as a general rule, not always but sometimes mothers will kill their young when they are born if there is anything wrong with them, sounds to me like it was injured at some stage.

Yeah. I had a friend who's cat had been hit in the head with a book shelf when she was a kitten and had brain damage afterward. She walked with her head always angled to the right and tended to forget things (where her litterbox was, how to get to her food, etc.).

I had a friend in elementary school who had a retarded cat. She was always getting lost when she got out. Everyone within a half-mile radius of this cat's home was familiar with her, so she always made it home (not because SHE knew where to go!)

Hi Joseph...cats could be mentally challenged if they were either injured for example with head trauma or born with neurological problems. It's not unusual, but difficult to diagnose other than obvious symtpoms of clumsiness.

yes it happens. it maybe from birth. it may be from other causes. My brothers cat got declawed/fixed at a liscensed vet and he came home and he wasnt the same. he didnt want to be held or anything. he ran from everyone. we think that he got too much anestetic (sp?) . He has come out of it now. its been over a year.
it is possible.

My parents had a cat named Stupid when I was a baby. It was not blind, but it ALWAYS walked into walls and doorways.
