According to a Circadian Biologist it will be freely available in the next 10yrs or so, and he claims, there will be no side effects!

Isn't sleep rather a waste of our short time on this Earth?

Oh yee of little faith......Modafinil has been around for some time. Taken in the late evening will let you wake-up after just 4hrs sleep feeling fully refreshed and ready to go, and it's not like Amphetamines or Caffiene.
No jitters or euphoria. Just a lovely rested feeling.
Try it and see for yourself.....

Although it might be a convenience for people but actually it isnt good for your body.
When u r sleeping, ur growth hormone levels increase, and immune function changes. Sleep also help people to maintain their emotional
stability, it help people to relax.
There are other profit u get from sleeping, but I only remember these.
I maybe will take the pill only for some emergency events like I got 10 assignments which are all must be handed in tomorrow. lol ^^
Dont be awake 22 hrs for almost everyday, u cant grow well.

there will inevitably be side effects, perhaps not physical ones (although i seriously doubt there would be none at all) but there would be social and economic side effects. truck drivers for instance who are required by law to take rest stops every 12 hours might be offered higher rates of pay by employers if they take the pill so that more jobs could be carried out at a quicker rate.
that is only one example there are many more i could go into but i think that one illustrates my point.
i dont think that this pill will work im not even sure if it is real, but if this scientist is adamant that it works with no side effects then i would ask him to take 8 days straight and see what happens.

I know that now, when i rely on caffeine to stay awake with coffee and energy drinks, my body is still exhausted, and after three days, i always need to sleep for a long period of time. If there truly were no side effects, i would soooo take it. And i'd use those 22 hours to my advantage...in the sack...lol.

An average human spends about 1/3 of his lifetime sleeping but that is OK - it is a natural way of the body to recuperate and rejuvenate itself when deprived of which there might be alot of problems inclusive of ulcers, ingestion and digestion problems etc; So the biological clock in the body excutes itself perfectly by adjusting its sleeping patterns whenever we need them (You sleep more when you are too tired). Occassional use of that drug would be fine but it may never substitute real sleep - Natural way is always the best way.

Positive effects: more time to have social relationships, to earn more money, to have more hobbies...

Negative effects: body may not rest enough, night-time hormone production is ineffective, solving of the problems during sleeps decreases...

Uncertain effects: side-effects on the brain?

Question: Is it worth...?

G'day Jamjan100,

Thank you for your question.

It depends on how it performs in clinical trials. Sleep performs a crucial function which is why we die if we go for days without sleep. Most animals even fruit flies are shown to need sleep.

I have attached sources for your reference.

Regards

no, i dont wanna be a grouch.

on a serious note, sleep os soemwhere where i get peace, and i love it. so ill keep the sleep instead of popping pills for the rst of my life. and if they tested it on animals (which im against) then theres a big chance it wont even work on peopel, and will giv us big side affects.

Definitely as long as it was absolutely side effect free and didn't mess with your brain. Your brain and body need REM sleep for down time. If I could be guaranteed that, then I would for sure.
