Zohar 3:69a
One day the companions were walking with Rabbi Shim'on bar Yohai. Rabbi Shim'on said: "We see that all these nations have risen, and Israel is lower than all of them. Why is this? Because the King [God] sent away the Matronit from Him, and took the slave woman [Lilith] in her place. Who is this slave woman? The Alien Crown, whose firstborn the Holy One, blessed be He, killed in Egypt. At first she sat behind the handmill, and now this slave woman inherited the place of her mistress." And Rabbi Shim'on wept and said: "The King without the Matronit is not called king. The King who adhered to the slave woman, to the handmaid of the Matronit, where is his honor? He lost the Matronit and attached Himself to the place which is called slave woman. This slave woman was destined to rule over the Holy Land of below, as the Matronit formerly ruled over it. But the Holy One, blessed be He, will ultimately bring back the Matronit to her place as before. And then, what will be the rejoicing? Say, the rejoicing of the King and the rejoicing of the Matronit. The rejoicing of the King because He will return to her and separate from the slave woman, and the rejoicing of the Matronit, because she will return to couple with the King. (Patai81:468)

The knowledge that the Hebrew God El originally had a female counterpart is a little known fact to modern Christians as the male dominated patriarchal Roman Catholic Church throughout it's history has attempted to destroy or demonize any and all evidence or references to a prior female Deity. However in the temple of Jerusalem she was known for many centuries as the Virgin Wisdom, the Queen of Heaven and also referred to as Anat, Asherah, Mari or Mariam and many early Israelite chieftains called themselves her sons.

People do not know because of the systematic and vehement denigration of women by very early and current Christian theologians and church officials. Why are women so inclined to just go along believing in and accepting traditional religious ideas as true even though they have been historically excluded from contributing in any significant way to the writing (and editing!) of the early and principal Christian scriptures, participating in establishing and revising Church doctrine or holding any significant position of power.
With men being the exclusive voice of the history, practices, and religious beliefs that define the whole of western civilization, (in which our society is blithely ensconced) how can we as women accept without question this unquestionably biased and flagrantly patriarchal cultural and religious inheritance and think that it is legitimate and true?

In reply to the posts above - no this does not come from witchcraft and Lilith is not a flesh and blood woman, but like God, an intangible force. Why, when the most fundamental principle in nature is balance and equilibrium, would there not be a divine feminine counterpart to the male God?

Spanky as a witch I resent the implication that witches would spread such nonsense, God of course has never had sex with a slave woman. Especially since he created all those fine angels to have sex with. I'm sure he ruffles their feathers often though. Why would anyone believe he would have sex with a lowly human. God bless kisses Betty.

Because most christianity has outlawed the truth and acceptance their own version.
However, reading the words of Brigham Young many mormons believe that God had sex with Mary to form the only Begotten of God. but when the science of men can learn to fertilize eggs and are trying to learn the manipulation of DNA, it is very possible Jesus was born of such science and creation.
Which is true! the fact that a spirit has NOT flesh and bone like Jesus said in the book of LUKE proves that the resurrection is beyond spirit alone. and Jesus says he DOeS what He sees the Father do.

Greetings! The reason that people do not know is that these types of ideas were banned at the Council of Nicea. Also traditional Christians do not study Jewish tradition. The Zohar and the Sefir Yetzirah are amazing books and the church ignores them.

My tradition also calls the Matronit, Shekinah - God's Presence and Power. We see this as the feminine aspect of God while the father is the masculine.

I won't question that your god has sex, but My God is a spirit. If you are seeking to know God, read my Bible. It doesn't include Patai81:468 because my Bible only has truth in it.
