Genesis 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Well, forgive me, but i'm bombarded with questions:

I've heard people say that the sabbath was a sign of Christ coming to die and that it was a ceremonial law. If it was, then why is it the fouth commanment? Why does it say "remember"? Why was it practiced before any law was given (remember the manna from heaven)? Why was it even sanctified before the fall of the human race? What does Isaiah 66:22, 23 mean? If Jesus changed the sabbath, why was it kept after his burial (Luke 23:56)?

The seventh-day Sabbath was sanctified because the Lord rested on that day and it is a memorial of creation. He also included it in the ten commandments, which some Christians say were nailed to the cross. But, is it no longer wrong to kill, to steal, etc.? Or is it just the fourth commandment that was nailed to the cross? It doesn't make sense to believe that only one of the ten commandments no longer applies.

The only thing that makes sense is that the seventh day (Saturday) is the Sabbath. It has existed since creation, was included in the ten commandments, and Jesus himself kept it - he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath. After Jesus' death, the apostles continued to keep the seventh-day Sabbath.

Jesus came to give meaning to the law not abolish it. the people of that time were so legalistic in deciding what work should be. even today some say that you can't take more than so many steps on the Sabath or that is work.

if a person loves God they will want to be like him right. so since he rested on the Saturday then shouldn't we also. the word rested means to reflect and apreciate. it doesn't mean resting as we understand it.

what if a person is working on a hot rod in his garage and that's the way he finds enjoyment and peace on the Sabath. will he be guilty?

should an archetect keep his eyes shut all day incase he invisions a design by accident which would be considered work.

the Jews believed that if you spit in the dirt then that is making morter and therefore work.

if you read the gospels i think it will make sense to you.

It is still active and expected today. The sabbath is a day of rest and worship. for me the question isn't the seventh day but the meaning of having the day set aside. We now are able to approach God anytime and day since Christ. However, I still believe it is right to acknowledge one day as a day of rest from our work and a day dedicated to God. Do I feel convicted and sinful if I do not accomplish this every 7th day.......No. I put God in my life everyday but I do think the idea behind one special day is still correct. At least for me

You are thinking from a christian point of view, and frankly the messiah is yet to come,
Resting on the Sabbath, is from the old testament and has nothing to do with what happened later in the Christian bible.

I suspect that God knew that man would be so greedy and that man would not stop working long enough to rest. So God ordered a day of rest.

It set up a trend of 6 and one million. Six years you till the land, on the seventh you enable it relax. Six years you very own a slave, seventh you enable him bypass unfastened. 6,000 years the earth is below the bondage of sin. The seventh one million,000 year reign of Christ would be relax.

The better question would be: why do you believe that there is a god that ever did anything? Certainly the bible, with its hundreds of errors, cannot provide any sort of reliable guide. Actually, it can be proved that belief (or non-belief) in a deity is useless.
