i love JWs. they are awsome. i think some people feel intruded upon by people coming to their door to preach at them. most people try to avoid thinking about God as much as posible and then having someone force them to think is unpleasant.

I don't like their intrusive evangelism. Knocking on doors, harrassing you in the streets. Tricking you into taking their Watchtower (i think that's what it's called).
Once two of them came into the store where i was working with a booket. The cover said something along the lines of "Reduce theft by youth" or something. So I took it and sat it aside. Later on, i got bored, and opened the booklet to read, and out falls the Watchtower! They tricked me into taking their propaganda.
But i dont dislike them, i just am not too fond of them when they evangelize (if that is a word)

I was a little silly on your last question, I'll try harder this time.
The reason I personally find them distasteful is because of their verbal tactics. I have a strong dislike for anyone who tries to obscure the meaning of what they're really trying to say with equivocation and verbal sleight of hand. Truth is something precious to me, more precious than freedom, comfort, or my own life. I have no time for people who don't know how to be truthful.
Now, I'm not talking about spiritual truth, my God is righter than your God stuff. I'm an agnostic, so I don't care about that. I'm talking about representing yourself as one thing when you are actually something else.

I dont have against Jehova's witnesses. That is a traditional transliteration for I AM THAT I AM which the name that the almighty gave to Moses on mount Sinai.

I find them irritating. They stuff pamphlets under my apartment door, and that's actually the tamer side of them. I have a friend who had Jehovah's Witnesses at his door, and when he told them he wasn't interested and tried to close the door, one tried to get a foot in the way so he couldn't close it.

It's not the people I dislike, it's the way they focus on certain Bible truths and ignore others that is offensive. And they are impolite and often downright rude when they come to the door, uninvited , to "sell" their cult beliefs.

I like the people that come to our house. They have different viewpoints and are difficult to get rid of, but they are nice people. I appreciate that they're trying to save me and I think that's really nice of them to care, but I just don't agree with them.

Because they always seem to come to my house at 7am on a Saturday just to "spread the good word." Unless someone is dead or dying noone had better bother me that early. =P

I think the main reason that people do not like them is because they go door to door.

I have no problem with JWs themselves, although I don't know any at the moment. I have a problem with their mistranslated NWT bible and poorly thought out theology, but that has no bearing on how I feel about JWs as people.
