The LCBO in Ontario carries a product called Absente- Due to the percieved effects of the original product of the Wormwood plant on people like Tolouse Lautrec in the 1800's the product was banned- originally it was Pernod but after the ban it reverted to an Anis liqueur- for a long time true Absinthe was available only from Argentina as Pernod-recently science has determined that the product was unjustly blamed and some small production started in Provence France and the Czech republic- the best comes from Provence and is available in the LCBO as Absente at $56.95- currently I believe there are other sources coming on stream

Look up Sebor Absinth on Google. It will give you a site in England that sells really good Czech Absinth. I've ordered from them many times and they send to the US and Canada. I know Absinth is illegal in the US but not sure in Canada.
