I just came home and found that the 3 dogs I'm sitting for ate 2 entire pumpkin pies, and if that's not bad enough...they've eaten the majority of the pie tins and foil that was covering them. I don't know whether to scream at them or take them to the vet... If anyone has any info PLEASE HELP!

I just called every vet in the Phoenix area and every emergency line for animals...and nothing. Nobody is answering. I'll just have to keep my eye on them for a while. In my defense, I just walked through the door..and in the owner's defense, the note says.."we left you 2 home made pies ON TOP OF THE FRIDGE". These are big dogs, but not THAT big. My great dane can't even get on top of the fridge!

Pumpkin pies. Very tempting! Don't panic. I don't doubt you can't find a vet today, maybe tomorrow. Apparently some of the folks on here have really great vets or never have had a holiday emergency!!

Dogs have been eating stuff they shouldn't for a long time and some how they survive. I've seen pits tear into metal water pails.
Check their mouths for any signs of cuts, blood just in case. Keep a close eye for any thing odd. Check for blood in poop when you take them out. Pumpkin may act a bit like laxative! So may be a little loose.

I assume the owners left you the vet # they use and call Friday and ask for vet input. He can best advise if need to be seen. Dogs will be dogs and they can try to eat some strange things. And do and survive it all.

If you can get ahold of a Vet that would be good. Usually there is an Emergency Clinic open somewhere. If not, is there an animal shelter that is? Perhaps someone on staff will know someone or somewhere you can call in case of emergency.
The pumpkin pie probably won't hurt them because they can eat pumpkin pie fillling and it is good for them. If they ate two pies, they may get a bit sick from overeating. I would worry more about the pie tins and foil because if they ate most of it, this could cause blockage, internal bleeding. Not necessarily, but here is a site that describes what to look for. Hope your dogs will be okay.

Well any dog or anything eating aluminum tin can't be good. I agree with the other answers call the Vet. Although it may be kind of hard to find one during this Holiday weekend.

The vet. Tin is not digestable and could cause harm to the dogs stomach, intestines, whatever. They may throw it up? Hpow long has it been? I would at least try to make a call about it to a vet.

I would think they'll be fine. They will have to pass the aluminum. My sisters golden retriever once ate a box of 5000 staples and was fine!!!
