According to Ferdinando -- a professional hairstylist from Le Pascha men's grooming center -- the best way to flatten your curly hair is to cut it regularly, every four to six weeks. Good hairstylists will cut your hair in different angles, which will make it "leaner" and remove the excess volume.
He also advises against blow-drying your hair because this tends to inflate volume rather than reduce it. If you do blow-dry it, then do so on a low setting while continually brushing your hair, for a straighter and less voluminous look.
Another way to cut down some of the volume is to reduce the overall amount of curls in your hair, which is essentially a quick-fix technique, instead of fully straightening your hair. Simply brush your hair and apply a bit of hairspray while your hair is still wet. This will help you straighten portions of your hair where you have a bit too much curl, which in turn will help reduce your hair's overall volume.

Long curly hair i think would look disgusting on a guy unless it was in an afro form keep it like a surfer dudes keep it inbetween for now because if its short it might look a little preppy and long would be ugh! So what you have now is good!

Whether you cut your hair short or keep it long, its totally up to you. If you decide to keep it long, and want your curly hair straight, john frieda has a straightening serum called frizz ease. In fact, there's a whole hair care line for straight and curly hair by john frieda. The key is to tame frizzy hair, whether its curly or straight.
Shampoo and condition your hair with these products. Then when you want to style your hair, put the frizz ease straightening serum in your hair. For straight hair, blow dry it using a diffuser (comb attachment). For curly hair, let it air dry. I hope this helps!

OK, if you are a guy (you said you were) then you should cut it short. Being a girl, my opinion on guy's hair is that the longest that they should ever let it grow is about 2 inches above the shoulders.

I love long hair on a guy if it looks good. For ideas on style for long curly hair, check out these pics:

P.S. I used to have a boyfriend who had curly hair and after he washed it and put conditioner on it, he would towel it dry and then "scrunch" it up with his fingers into natural-looking curls and let it dry naturally. That helped cut down on the frizz you get from blow-drying. His hair always looked great!

you can use straighteners sold in drug stores that go on like conditioner then use a blow dryer with a comb or round brush and straighten it yourself at home. If the curls are kinda tight then keep it short its much neater that way.
