BAGHDAD, Iraq (Nov. 23) - Sunni Muslim insurgents blew up five car bombs and fired mortars into Baghdad's largest Shiite district Thursday, killing at least 161 people and wounding 257 in a dramatic attack that sent the U.S. ambassador racing to meet with Iraqi leaders in an effort to contain the growing sectarian war.

Shiite mortar teams quickly retaliated, firing 10 shells at Sunni Islam's most important shrine in Baghdad, badly damaging the Abu Hanifa mosque and killing one person. Eight more rounds slammed down near the offices of the Association of Muslim Scholars, the top Sunni Muslim organization in Iraq, setting nearby houses on fire.

Two other mortar barrages on Sunni neighborhoods in west Baghdad killed nine and wounded 21, police said late Thursday.

Yes, the conflict has gone way too far ! Our troops should not be further exposed to the violence.Iraq is not a state or province of The United States,we are simply there to help them establish their own government. With the casualties continuing to climb; perhaps its time to rethink our plan of action.

This "internal civil war " is both political and religious motivated; that needs to be settled by their own people .
Give the people the arms and training they need and allow them to emancipate their own country.

The Sunnis and Shiites have been at "war" with each other for many years.Their true religious leaders(those who actually follow the true teachings of Islam ) should call the leaders of the others and attempt to mediate an end to the killing and violence.

nicely, fences have been suggested. yet over 40 tunnels have additionally been stumbled on. the only thank you to maintain the border between Mexico and the U. S. shelter is to make it so the punishment is greater severe than in basic terms deportation. I even have considered on episodes of law enforcement officers the place they see somebody crossing the border and that they don't even provide chase. They have been afraid he would run accross the line and be hit with the aid of a motor vehicle. In Iowa we've a forfiture regulation that something used to commit a criminal offense or offered from the proceeds of a criminal offense (like a boat offered with drug earnings) could be seized and auctioned. on the grounds that they are interior the country illegally any artwork they do is likewise unlawful so each and all the money they make could be seized below the forfiture regulation. additionally something they offered with wages mutually with autos, tvs etc. If the regulation could start up doing that, illegals could quickly understand this is not nicely worth working for no money and could bypass abode. the two that or build a wall like the berlin wall finished with landmines and start up taking photos everyone who crosses the buffer zone. After some get shot they'll understand this is not nicely well worth the possibility.

I usually read the Baathist party insurgent announcements online to get a sense of what the other side is saying.Lately they have changed to a focus on the Shiites.Usually they are focusing on the coalition. So since they are the number one insurgent force in Iraq-this could spell big trouble for that country.I'd say If they start focuing on Shiites then there will be civil war definitely.

Yes. It is, has been, and will continue to be a civil war as these factions have been at odds and existed for a long time. The U.S. didn't cause it, but removed Sadaam Hussein and the Baathist party as a roadblock to the civil violence.

Of course, the Baathists did plenty of murder and violence of their own, so it's a toss-up as to what is better.

Best Wishes,

Sue

Of course it has! Only an idiot couldn't have seen this coming but then, our political system is full of idiots and so are most of the people who voted them into office!
It amazes me, I have seen video footage of Osama Bin Laden from 98 and 99 where he referred to Sadaam as a "Buffoon"!!!! Sadaam had nothing to do with the attacks in New York yet where did we go? IDIOTS!
I can't say anymore on here!
