Simple, during a conversation just say something like; Hey, why don't we:
Hook-up sometime for:
a) a order of fries and a coke
b) a movie
c) and work on homework project
and if things are going good:
d) All of the above or any multiple combo

Don't ask her if she likes you and don't come right out and say you like her, let the relationship build to that.
Even if she doesn't like you she'll be interested to see what's up with you.
What have you got to lose? You don't have her now.
