My cat Gracie came down with cancer and I had her put to sleep at age 16 she could have lived longer but with Chemotherapy I just didn't want to put her through all that.
My fiend just had to have her 23 year old cat to sleep, because he became very sick. So you see if taken care of, shots, spaying or neutering declawing, keeping them indoors, etc. they can live quite a long time. I shall always miss my Gracie but I have had Mia for over a year now. And I love her very much.

I have two cats, neither are over 2 years old so mine have a long ways to go but my mom has like 5 cats at a time. Her oldest cat lived to be 19, a month shy of her 20th birthday but she had kidney failure and was suffering so mom had to have her put down. Very very sad.

My indoor/outdoor cat lived for almost 18 years. I know of a few cats who lived beyond 20. Like people, some live longer than others.

I'd say 12-16 for the average, well kept, indoor cat, BUT I've seen cats up to about age 22.

a well taken care of inside cat can live up to 15 plus years, Mine is so well provided for she will probably live to 20! She gets the very best of everything and regular check ups with the vet once a year.

My mom's cat Speedy lived to be 16 yrs. That's the oldest I know of in my family. The lifespan varies with the cat, it's health and it's care and using all 9 lives too.

Typically, if they die of complications arising from old age, they live 15-20 years with females generally living longer than the males.
If nothing else gets them, their kidneys typically give out because cats need a high protein diet.
