Christians, I have read many questions by atheists, many insults toward our Lord, his Word, and us. Why don't we just refuse to answer their questions. They don't want an answer they just want to get us upset. What are your views. Atheist commets will not be recognized.

Jesus said the way was to follow the narrow road and few will find it. I guess the attitudes that are received on yahoo and generally in the world from some people are a reflection of this. Jesus was persecuted and we as his followers should expect some as well

Consider it pure joy if you are being persecuted for the sake of Christ! The truth will always face opposition. Stand strong in the Lord and don't be discouraged.

Many atheists claim to know the Bible better than Christians do. Therefore, they already know the only way to Heaven, but they choose to reject it,either out of spiritual ignorance (not really understanding the Word of God) or outright rebellion (not really believing and / or caring because they feel they don't need or want to be accountable to anyone but themselves). They have made up their minds and hardened their hearts to the truth. Therefore,we should not answer the foolish and antagonistic questions asked by some of the atheists, but we should leave them in God's hands. He will deal with them in His own way and in His own time. We have done all we can at this point.
Contrary to what Don said, God DOES care what people say about Him and those who serve Him. He has been very merciful and patient thus far with those who reject Him and disrespect Him,but the time is soon coming where He will no longer put up with all the egotistical insolence of mankind, and as merciful as He is,He is also a just and righteous God,and they will be sorry for the way they have treated Him,not because of His will, but because of the choices they have made and the punisment they are heaping upon their own heads.

First of all, answer because there is always the chance that the person answering the question, or someone else reading your answer, will be curious about the argument you made and look up what you've quoted. If nothing else, you got them to open their Bible.
Second, I don't understand how anyone can truly be an atheist. An agnostic or a doubter, maybe. But to truly believe that we are accidents of biology and chemistry, that's just impossible to prove. There is too much intelligent design (used purposely) not to at least implant the slightest bit of uncertainty in even the most fervent "atheist", in my humble opinion.
Third, if you only talk to people of your own level of faith, you may be limiting your own ability to grow spiritually. Obviously, some of the true nitwits have to be ignored.

Go ahead and refuse. It'll just be fodder for the people who do answer.

And the insults go both ways. There have been many an answer directed to non-believers that have been less than savory.

And as for answers -- questions by believers never recognize differing opinions anyway. In fact, some of the answers chosen are so rediculous, it's a wonder why they even asked the question in the first place.

I answer if I

a) fall into the trap
b) feel there is some genuine interest
c) Spirit of G-d tells me to
d) feel like having a logical debate and am open to their view.

Many athiests respond to my questions respectfully. I try to do the same. All I can do is my own part, the best I can.

I know you may not agree with point D, but sometimes I just feel like showing just because I am a born again Christian does not mean I lack the brain mass to quantify something or recognize a train of logic. I do see where you are coming from.

Bless u Sister!

David

Funny, other religions have posted the same frustrated question about christians. Regarding christians insulting their beliefs and value system and being disrespectful. Broad generalizations are never a good thing, are they?

"Atheist commets will not be recognized."

Always a good idea to refuse any different perspectives than your own. It's not intolerant, what are you talking about? It leads to understanding and peace and harmony! Always.

It also demonstrates that you're a hypocrite.

"They don't want an answer they just want to get us upset."

You don't want an honest answer. You just want affirmation.

But seriously, please stop the broad generalizations and intolerance. Be the change you want to see in the world. Or better yet...just BE a christian, and stop talking about it.

I pick and choose what questions I will answer now, although it was not always like that.
Believe it or not I have actually lead 4 people to the Lord who have emailed me from this site. That is why I stay here, spreading the truth of Jesus.

One of the strongest ways that one can demonstrate their faith is to simply live their lives and present the best argument for their faith by being successful in achieving what goals they set for themselves.

By being available to present information in a clear and calm manner, you are witnessing for your faith. If there are those who you feel are trying to insult you, decide whether or not they are anywhere near the truth of your life. If not, they are wrong and should be disregarded. If they are, then you may have to re-examine why their words bother you and take steps to correct the situation.

Whether you ultimately answer them or not is up to you. However, realize that by not putting your faith out for them to experience, you could be doing them a disservice.

Atheists are lost with no directions in life. In reality they are searching for answers, so they come to the Religion & Spirituality part of Yahoo Answers, looking for that something they lack, that something is God. Everyone has a place inside themselves that longs to be filled by God's Spirit. They are empty inside, and know Christians have the peace, love, and joy they don't.

We have to look past their insults, and everything else they throw at us. Just keep feeding them God's Holy Word found in the Bible. I have found that the ones that bark the loudest are the ones really searching for the truth. Just hang in there, and plant the Word of God into their hearts. God said his Word will not come back void.
