I want to cut my hair soon, and I don't want splits this time. Yeah, I don't brush when I come out of the shower, and I ALWAYS let my hair air dry. I tie my hair when I go to sleep. WHAT ELSE CAN I DO? Any good shampoos/conditioners that will PREVENT split ends?

Speaking of elastics, which types are best for hair (if I don't want split ends)?

Hair is made of protein... You should use Damage Remedy Shampoo and Conditioner by AVEDA. This is a protein based shampoo system, filling the hair's porous openings and sealing the cuticle of the hair. You will feel the difference after ONE use. Promise. Also.... Use a protein Deep Treatment 1X a week... Aveda Damage Remedy Intensive Treatment is a nice one. This is only used once a week, as too much protein is bad, and can weigh the hair to the point of breakage. Next, get a trim every 6-8 weeks, even if it is only 1/8 to 1/4 inch. This is how long hair is achieved. Small and frequent trims, as any split ends work their way up the hair shaft, not only affecting the ends..... As for the hair rubber band.... use one without a metal on it. They sell full circular bands, as metal snags the hair strand. Promise.... your hair will thank me. Good luck

it is a good thing that you dont want split ends and it also is good that you dont dry your hair with heat but with air drying the moisture in the hair tends to dry out as well so make sure you use a good conditioning and shampoo system such as pantene pro v restoratives.comb your hair slightly before washing it so that your hair doesnt get tangled with a wide tooth comb.small teeth comb only pull and break hair.also comb the hair after washing and then condition.wrap hair before tieing it up and be careful what you use to tie up your hair.cotton wraps dry out your hair so try and use satin wraps.i use a satin bonnet.keep your ends trimmed regularly and try not to use heat regularly but if you must, purchase products that work to protect the hair against heat

actually tieing your hair can cause damage! go natural and let it air dry. the only way you can prevent split ends is to trim them before they even happen.

Pantene Pro-V Anti-Dandruff For Women of Color. I'm white and I use it because it really truly conditions your hair and prevents damage to hair before it happens. If you're Arican-American, you should definitely try it, if you're a white like me, then I still recommend it highly. It did wonders on my hair and I blow-dry/straighten it every day.

All hair eventually splits. You just slow down the process with air drying and good conditioning. Try the biosilk. It's my favorite!

Tresime (IDK if thats how you spell it) works well. Also if you straighten your hair dont do it while your hair is wet or damp. And there is this thing called the split-ender and it works like a straightener except it gets rid of your split ends!
