You are right to be honest about it. The reason women probably treat you differently when they find out is fear of the unknown. They don't understand your condition, and they get scared. We have this "thing" in our society. . . when people hear the term Bi-polar (as well as other terms) they freak out, thinking "CRAZY."
But you know the truth, and you take medication, and you manage your condition. If a girl seems worthy, try to educate her on the whole thing. Also, a woman might come along who already "gets" it. Good luck. . . the right one just hasn't come along yet.

The reason they probably tend to back away is becuase they don't know anything about Bipolar people except the bad things that they have heard. I have a son who is BP and he had a hard time finding a girl that was willing to try and understand his condition and how it all works..But once she did find out how everything works with a Bp person it was easier for her to undrstand what he went through at times. Now they are gonna be married next month..
I hope this helps you out some and gives you some encouragement that someday someone will like you for who you are.

My grandma was bi-polar, so I know where you're coming from. I admire your honesty in telling women up-front about it. They should give you time to explain how you act when it comes on. As long as you're on medication, though, you're stable, right? If you'd like a friend, email me.

Why would you want to be with someone who doesn't appreciate your honesty? So what if you're bipolar? There are lots of very successful people who are bipolar and in relationships. It's good that you're upfront about it and I am SURE there are TONS of women who would appreciate that and continue to see you. For crying out loud, prisoners have people who want to marry them!

Honesty is the best policy but do you explain in depth how you behave and what to expect of it. How far along in the relationship do you mention this. Let them get to know you alittle first and then explain your problem.

Maybe a girl with the same situation would be more sympathetic.
