If the website you saw was www.notcanada.com then it's pretty much as real as it gets. Sorry to burst your bubble.
Unless you're from a country such as the US or somewhere in Western Europe, education and work experience do not count for much in Canada, and it makes it all the more difficult to find a good job.
On the bright side, if you come to Canada ready and willing to learn and sacrifice a few years to re-training and getting Canadian experience workwise, one can climb to the top.
It's really not the paradise many people dream of, unfortunately. C'est la vie, I guess.

Hey that is nonsense. Have you heard of the "squeaky wheel". Well that is what that site is all about. The issue is not the country but peoples expectations. The country cannot deliver on some folks' expectations.
The whole country is an immigration success story! Let us face it, everyone (except the native) is / was an immigrant. Walk one kilometre in any major Canadian city and you will see the world go past you. Chinese, Indians, Afganis, Slovaks, Polish, Italian, Irish, Africans, Americans, Latinos, even Borats! There are over 300,000 new canadians every year. From brain surgeons to meat packers. And that website attracts maybe 100 people. That is NOT the norm!
Does that mean you will become an instant millionaire / billionaire? NOT! But will you be able to live a comfortable, safe life, in a society that is caring and multi-cultural? Without a doubt!

I can't be of much help (so why answer the q right?) but I do hope whatever situation you have regarding this, works out well for you. I have two such situations taking place at the moment for a daughter and a son...one wants to immigrate to the US (she's Canadian) and the other has a fiance wanting to immigrate to Canada (she's a US citizen) and they too have found some very disheartening stories.
I don't really understand the point in making it so difficult for people to move between these two countries when there are people from other places immigrating to both and they seem to be able to do very well...housing, jobs, education...doesn't make sense really.
Good luck
