Tan works but it depends on your skin color andtones but mainly warm tones . Like w/ brown hair iT should work. If you use a purple don't you a dark purple or a dark blue because then it willl look like you were punched in the eye.

usually you should pick a color that compliments your eye color... a color that is opposite of it on a color wheel. for example..... blue eyes stand out most with red gold or orange colors. green eyes same thing. but since you have brown i think that all colors would look beautiful. try like a green, purple, gold, or pink

Oh loads of colours go with brown eyes but try to concentrate more on warm colours. and it also depends on the colour of the outfit that you would be wearing. Red is definietely a favourite colour of mine and Cream or peach also looks lovely. Pink is alright too.
