The 12/25 date was due to an edict of the emperor Constantine. He wanted it to coincide with the Mithra celebrations that were held on the 25 of December.
This date has nothing at all to do with Jesus.

Jesus was born in September, cause it wasn't winter yet. 25 Dec is designated byt he Church so that the people, who were celebrating a pagan holiday at that time, can continue their celebrations, under a Christian guise.
Our calender don't really start on the year of his birth, for it wasn't untill later when Jesus rose into promininece as the Messiah. The year was a rough estimate

B.C. means before Christ. Jesus was born 2006 years ago. You can look in the history books for details of why the church designated Dec. 25 as the date to celebrate His birth.

no one knows exactly, for sure no one knows a day or a month. Even the year is give or take a year to two.
We know for sure it is not in Dec 25, that was merely a holiday date picked by the church, to allow Christians to have a celebration. Living in a pagan society, they did not celebrate the pagan holiday, so they stood out and could be arrested
But no one knows an exact date.

I agree with fr chuck no one knows for sure what day or year he was born. But neither do we know for sure he wasn't born on 25 Dec. The Church picked that day so that we would have a day to celebrate his birthday. As far as most people are concerned it is as good a day as any other since we don't know for sure the exact date. It just happened that the date picked was on a pagan holiday. But a person can't help the day he was born. If you start checking you may very well be born on a pagan holiday yourself as there are so many. So I say it doesn't matter what day he was born on. If you don't like 25 December for his birthday just pick you another day. As for me being as I'm an Atheist I don't care what day he was born on so I will continue to celebrate Christmas 25 Dec. God bless kisses Betty.

it's hard to say, there weren't any records kept (besides the bible and it didn't give you the year or day) so no one really knows, they can only make guesses.
Many people that study this kind of thing, think that Jesus might be in the spring or summer because they figure that would be the mostly likely time the wise men would see a star as bright as they did during that era.

Since 'B.C.' stands for 'before Christ', how could Jesus have been born 7 years before he was born? Think next time.
