Dog and cat flea meds are VERY different. Because cats are always licking to wash themselves, the meds are not toxic. Dog flea spray is more toxic. Different pesticides are used and in different strengths. The chemicals can also soak into the skin. If the cat ingested or had it soak into it's system and is showing signs of being poisoned you need to get it to a vet. May just be sick but could also die and a vet could hopefully prevent it. Hope all turn out okay.

If it is Hartz or some other OTC flea product then you need to contact a vet immediately. Hartz and other oTC flea products are dangerous, even deadly in just the cat version but become even more so in the dog version. If it is flea product from the vet such as Frontline or Advantage it isn't quite as worrisome but you still should call the vet to alert them.

Well usually this will not effect the cat in any way..But I would call your vet and ask for opinions...It never hurts to get advice..I've had plenty people ask me about this..The thing is I can't tell you much over the computer or give you advice without knowing what kind of brand it was of the flea medicine...I would call but more likely it is nothing to worry about...

I am glad that you washed it off immediately. But dog fleas topical tubes are poisonous to cats. You need to take him/her to the vet to get put on medicine immediately. Sometimes this works if you do not wait to long for it to travel to all over the cat's body system. GOD BLESS YOU! sus04mc@yahoo.com

There shouldn't be a whole lot of damage since both medications use almost the same ingredients but it depends on the amount of flea medicine used on her.

Washing it off does nothing unless it is done immediately after the treatment is applied. If it sits for awhile, the skin will absorb it and washing does nothing but make your kitty cleaner.

Call your vet and ask him or her if it is harmful. In the meantime, if the cat gets sick or lacks alot of energy or doesn't eat, take her to a pet clinic immediately.

It depends on how large or small the cat is. It also depends on if it was a shampoo or spray, sense cats lick themselves I think it may make your cat sick. Just keep an eye on your cat. Call the Vet if you think you should the Vet is the best one to answer this question.

it relies upon on the style. dogs flea meds could be particularly poisonous to cats. ultimate guess is to call the emergency vet with the call of the product you used, and seek for their advice. With any flea product poisoning, the speedier scientific care is began the greater probably the cat will survive. mutually as one individual is calling the vet, the different could be bathing the cat in any dishwashing liquid or shampoo you have - this is severe to get all of it off him and as quickly as obtainable.

Did you not understand my advise in the other question you posted? (Put dog flea med.on cat cats acting funny what should i do?) Take the cat to a ER vet now.Precious moments are passing as you are on the internet asking goofy questions.

Most likely it will be just fine. Most dog medications that say only for dogs have the same ingredients as for cats. They just do that to make money. I have used dog medication on my cats and it's never harmed them and I've kept cats all my life. I wouldn't take your cat fo the vet unless it starts acting sick or something otherwise you will be payin a major vet fee for nothin.

If it was a shampoo or something like that then it doesnt really hurt the cat. Its the same thing as cat flea shampoo.
