My cat step in oil, I believe it is car oil or something similar. Can he become sick from cleaning it himself? What should I do?

Yes he can get sick from ingesting oil, clean him up and if he ingested anything make sure you watch him closely and take him to the vet if he shows any signs of ill.

It depends on how much, but first I would wash his paws with very warm water and Dawn, it will clean the oil off. That is what they use for birds that have gotten caught in an oil slick. If he gets sick, take him to the vet immediately. You might want to call an vet emergency service that is open 24 hours and ask them that question to be on the safe side.

Cats use their tongues to wet their paws. Their paws run over their body. This is how they clean themself. Because the oil is on her paws, she can ingest the oil into her system and it can cause massive damage and even death if enough is ingested.

Take your kitty and run warm water over her. Use a mild soap like Dawn and clean every inch of her. Rinse well with water until you can rub your hand over her wet fur and no soap suds show up. This should do the trick. If she becomes lethargic (no energy) or throwing up, immediately take her to an emergency animal clinic or your vet.

Yes he can. One of our cats did the exact same thing. You will need to bathe him. This will most likely need to be done a few times and he may even need to be shaved so it's best to take him to the vet and have it done because they may also need to treat him for ingesting the oil or whatever chemicals he could have swallowed. Don't wait, they'll accept him as an emergency.

along with his heritage of urinary tract matters, i could be a sprint worried approximately that or kidney matters. If he's vomiting many times and it particularly is yellow, what you're seeing is bile. i realize it sounds gross, yet i elect to propose smelling it the subsequent time he does it. in case you scent an ammonia or bleach smell, that's in many circumstances a demonstration of continual renal failure (CRF). in case you scent an acetone smell (like nail polish remover), that's in many circumstances a demonstration of diabetes. the two condition could reason accepted vomiting and the vomit would be the yellow bile shade which you're describing. If he isn't actually producing foodstuff that would point out overeating or something disagreeing along with his abdomen and the liquid isn't clean, it particularly is not going that he's attempting to cough up a hairball. i think of you're good heading in the right direction including your plan to have him regarded at. If the vomiting keeps for the time of the evening, i could attempt to get him in first factor in the morning if I have been you. i does not attempt the petrolium jelly or something at this element, using fact it particularly is not very clean what's happening. It won't unavoidably be poisonous to him, yet i does not elect to hazard making his vomiting worse. stable success to you, and that i'm hoping he's feeling extra useful quickly!

You are asking us instead of giving it a bath? A bath might be helpful.I know cats dont like baths but sometimes you have to bathe a cat to save its life.
