Yes Robespierre - you're absolutely right. I know because I'm Australian and I have to fight the constant urge to commit a murder at least once a day. When I'm not lugging around my ball and chain and wearing the broadarrow overalls, I spend my time lying in wait for British backpackers...clearly I'm doing a poor job as they keep coming back!!
Amazingly enough though, I am outnumbered. Some $160,000.00 British convicts arrived on Australian shores until approx 1840 and were stopped at the behest of of the free settlers and burgeoning Australian population. Most Australians descend from free settlers (immigrants).
What IS amazing though is that America, New Zealand and Canada all accepted convicts too - it took the US 80 years or so to put a stop to transportation and it was only ceased by the civil war.......
Further, the 'hardened' British criminals in the main remained in Britain where they belonged and where they would 'swing' for their crimes....

If you read the Bible, we are all descended from a person of lesser quality. Just because England sent their 'unwanted' there does not make them (Aussie's) bad people!
You (and only you) can judge the value of another!
In the USA, we pretty much stole this land from the American Natives! Does this make us bad people? Hardly! The USA brought in 'slaves' from Africa who were bought and sold a few hundred years ago! This makes you evil? Nope!
You disrespect folk from Austrailia by thinking like this!
If you like this person, learn who they are and what they are all about. Their ancestors do not have anything to do with who 'they' are!

no they are not all,,,,, yes some "crooks" were sent there, just like here in the usa some were sent to Georgia,,,,, but that doesnt meant everyone living here is a descendant of theirs, plus what would it matter? being a crook isnt a inherited trait!

haha people from Australia were sent there hundreds of years ago by the British but alot of those people were sent there because they were too poor to pay there taxes so no they are not all descended from axe murders like you think.

Gimme a break...first of all, even if that WAS proven, what difference would it make? 2nd of all, the "Aussie" is lucky enough to have missed an evening with you and your fearful, judgmental ways.

this is a silly question....and anyway, even if they were descended from "Crooks" doesn't have any effect on who they are. Do you have any idea who your descendants are? I'd check that out before judging others.

the first English speaking people were criminals sent to Australia as an exile, but then people heard you could make a nice living as a sheep farmer down there, then lots of non-criminal english people moved down there to live. hope this answers your question! :)

Yes, Australia used to be a prison but its unfair to judge a people for what their ancestors did.

I've heard this same thing but I'm sure they can't all be descendants of crooks.
