Alright, so. Every once in a while I get this pain on the left side of my chest, it feels as though a rib were poking a hole into my lung. It hurts to breath after that and I am only able to take short shallow breaths. It goes away after a few minutes but it's rather painful/annoying. The thing of it is...
It doesn't happen all the time, maybe once every week or so and I'm not sure what causes it or why. it scared my friend and she suggested that I see a doctor.
My question would be,
Would you reccommend the same?

DOes this only happen after exertion due to aerobic or weight bearing activities? (IE a runners "stitch " in the side) or a side ache causes by bending the wrong way etc. This is very minor. But any time you have chest pain you should see the Doctor. Its better to trust him after he checks you out than we who can not see you .

I don't think when you're talking about chest pain you can be too safe. If it concerns go to the doctor. Something is causing the pain. Just sitting here wondering what it is isn't going to do you any good. Maybe it's nothing, but at least you'll know. You can't be too careful when it comes to your health. Good luck, I hope it checks out okay.

Well,
I am having the same troubles as you. Them occurances too. It's like a sharp dull pain and its hurts like heck to the point you think you having heart attacks.
I think in my case it is just my bubs pulling on the ribs and that's what hurts so much.

In your case not sure. But would not hurt to have a physical by your doc. Good luck.

You should get it checked out but it probably is costochondritis which is not dangerous, just inflammation of the cartilage in your ribcage.

see a doctor.
it sounds like something I had called intercostal neuritus.
not serious. it is an inflamation of nerve ending rubbing against your ribs.
good luck

You should see your doctor. It could be from indigestion or from anxiety or even from mitral valve prolapse. I have MVP and it can be very painful, it takes my breath away at times. Please go see your doctor.
